Gee aren't we touchy this week, yes our picks at 2 and 5 couldnt really be faulted but the fact is we did miss out on Sam Taylor. No other way to 'look at this situation. We didn't draft him so we missed out on drafting him, nothing more nothing less. The problem we have though, and many on this site suffer from the same problem is that once we have missed out on a local talent whether it be Sam Taylor, Tim Kelly, Cam McCarthy, Rory Lobb or Patrick Cripps we then covet those players and become obsessed with getting them home to Fremantle whatever the cost. In doing so we tend to lose sight of the other great talent that may be available in the draft or even the talent that exists on our own list and by doing this we fail to grow as a club and get the best results from what is available to us. We can't pick every great local talent as we only have a maximum of 5 or 6 picks. That's a fact and the sooner we get over it the better. Sometimes we get a gun other times a lemon but once these kids establish themselves in the East we invariably pay overs to bring them home.
