It's a good starting point for negotiations and much more accurate for where Hill's value lies than the pick 14 or whatever in the teens the Saints originally wanted to do.

The way I see it going is pick 6 and a second round selection for Hill with possibly some other selections swapping hands later on. We need to stock up on picks for our academy/father sons next year. Western and Walker look likely top 10 or 20 at this point. Western possibly top 5 depending on how he grows.

I'm glad we're hanging tough on Hill but to try and put down Kelly in the process and how good he is in comparison to Hill seems a bit silly to me. I think if you asked people who they would want in their team first, the vast majority would nominate Kelly.

CA, the Kelly deal is way overs. But he’s no Chris Judd or Fyfe or yeah even Brad Hill. It’s an opinion based business and I rate Hilly higher. Hence why he’s worth more on the trade table.

Kudos to Belly for bitch slapping those Moorabbin morons thinking the Hill trade will be a straight swap of a higher round 1 pick. They must have been relishing in Cleary's dribble.

I personally want to see Hill playing for us in 2020; however, reading some of the news from Monday...

"Lethlean said the Saints had put forward a deal to the Dockers on Sunday night for Hill, with their prized pick No.6 set to be involved in the trade. "

"If we can get that one done early it helps with the rest of the stuff we want to do," he said. "But we're conscious Freo are after a pretty good deal for a pretty good player. We've put a position that shows how much we respect that too."

So sounds like the 2020 first round is a curve ball to which Belly hopes they can dig a bit deeper.

I'm sure this will get done even if it's next year's 2nd rounder plus something extra from this year.

Just on the Victorian opinions of our players, I really rate Leigh Montagna, on Fox Trade talk yesterday all his mates are scoffing at us asking for pick 6 and he knocks it back and says Brad is worth pick 6 plus a fair bit more. One of the best analysts on Fox at the moment, heaps better than Kingy. He was a scout for Ross last season and would still be an asset if he stayed in that role.

From memory, Fremantle traded pick 23 for Brad Hill which was the compensation pick we got for Chris Mayne when he went to Collingwood.

Imagine turning Chris Mayne into two first round draft picks.
