Given that there are at least 8 midfielders in the team I’m surprised that Dustin Martin has dropped down to at least number 9 and missed selection. I think most punters would have him in their first three or four players if picking a team from scratch.

I'm really pleased for Sonny and Nat getting their nods for the team. Looking at the selection panel you would hardly call it a Fremantle friendly group and on another note 6 out of 22 selected West Australians, 9 if you count Lachie Neale, Tim Kelly and Patrick Cripps is a great return for WA.

And yet Kingy went on and on about that fact being why Hurn should be Captain. I have to admit he should have got the nod last year ahead of Buddy but this is a completely new year. I'm wondering also if the manner in which Nat handled our late season demise and the sacking of Ross got him over the line as his words and leadership are a shining light on a way forward for the club.
