TOPIC: Tim Kelly - lock it in

I've gone right off Kelly lately. He's looking quite smug and I think he's getting a bit of a buzz from all the attention he's getting. He is a talented player but the raves he is getting is that he is better than Brad Hill and in the same class as our captain. He is actually probably on a par with Bradley but not in the same league as Nat Fyfe.
If he has now stated he doesn't want to play in the purple then stuff him, we should not be begging which is what this is beginning to look like.

Forget Kelly.. Must keep 6 & 7 for Sharp and Jackson. Then add Henry.. Shatp is a must as he is going to be the best of the lot of them. Mark that down.

Listening to Longmuire state that he's more interested in sustained success instead of just wins now, then that suggests Kelly would imply going for wins now, but drafting good players as Wingman has just suggested would imply Sustained Success.

I'm all in for Sustained Success.

Expat, agreed. One more thing to add, quoting JLo and that is the FFC culture needs to change to (a) make Freo a 'destination club' and (b) a place where players won't want to leave. That's the whole package, right there.

Right, so we focus on the draft and commit to what, a 7 or 8 year rebuild? Fyfe might still be fit enough to play in a forward pocket when our premiership window re-opens.

Kelly choosing WC over us is a terrible outcome. WC are already second favourite for next year’s flag and adding Kelly (who’s only 25, he’ll get better) makes them more formidable over the next 4-5 years. Meanwhile, we’ll lose B Hill and Langdon and replace them with kids who won’t be ready to contribute for a few years (and are very unlikely to be as good as Kelly).

I'm all for sustained success too, as long as it's not the type that Roly promised us........and never delivered.

We are facing a rebuild anyway as the list is nowhere near premiership potential. Fremantle need to commit to the draft as they should have done at the end of 2015 and embark on a full rebuild similar to what Brisbane have done. What is hurting even more is some of our better players wanting out right at the age the club needs them the most, ie Neale, Hill, Langdon and possibly Blakely.
I was supportive of the trading done the last few years but I am prepared to admit posters like bizkit and hypen were right. We should have gone all in on youth. Now the list is in nowhere land. Longmuir deserves time.

I don't think going hard at the draft the next couple of years and properly rebuilding will take too long. We have a core group in those middle years (specifically our tall stocks) who have another half dozen years or more in their prime. The kids we draft this year will be starring in a couple of years and able to join those blokes along with Fyfe and Sonny.

2/3yrs from now, we'll do what Brisbane have this year and it'll set us up for a long period at the top. We need to take advantage of the draft now, the strong WA talent, our academy picks and the opportunity to get multiple high end draftees into the club.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Agreed we need to move on from Kelly now. I was prepared to bring him in for what we gained from losing Hill but not at any cost. Geelong are the only ones linking Kelly to Freo now as they want our early draft picks. Belly will probably keep us in the conversation in order to make the other mob cough up draft picks. The more they cough up the more WA lads left on the table for us...

FWIW. Just heard from a friend close to TK that he was royally miffed that Freo didn’t show any interest in him _after he approached Freo indicating he wanted to play for them years ago_ Hence, highly unlikely he will be convinced to come after being rebuffed. His current decision to not consider Freo was unrelated to Ross Lyon or his tenure. It’s just that when he wanted Freo to show interest, we didn’t.

Also true that WCE didn’t show any interest in drafting him at the time, but TK never indicated any early interest in playing for them; for him, it was Freo, but we showed no interest.

Kelly is the equivalent to one of us wanting to play for the OOFTIT's, I'd sit out years of football to avoid having to wear that rubbish and be tainted by them.

He is a mad OOFTIT supporter and hates the Dockers. It's as simple as that.

The rebuild has been done. We are in full tilt, get the flag now mode. Longmuir will accept nothing less. Use the draft to top up the list we have, not to get players who might have a couple of good years left in them.

Fremantle Football Club has got rid of one deadwood player Bennell.
Hogan might be the holding the deadwood money baton 2020..
McCarthy might find form under JLo under new forward mindset. A marking forward who's game plan was around the back half for the past couple of seasons.
When we had players on offer in our forward line we looked great first several games then Lyon panics because we lose a couple games and the all troops in the backline.
If Kelly played for any team out of the eight he wouldn't have shined as he has, let him go the dark side as I don't think he's going to do more than Brad Hill.
