TOPIC: Draft

I'm not too worried if a big key position forward isn't the best tackler in the side, it's not really why I have him in there. I've defended Cox enough so won't rehash anything but his value is still far higher than SPP, regardless of how you feel about his ability to chase and tackle.

Hopefully the next coach can make use of the fantastic marking, reading of the play and natural talent that Cox has.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Yeah I agree with that. You just can't have 3 of them in the same forward line.

I understand the bigger blokes are not as nimble and a bit harder to tackle and chase, but an effort is minimum requirement. Sandi always had a crack, why not Cox?

Yeah Darling and Kennedy seem to put on a bit of pressure. Sorry to mention the slime.

I reckon, if Cox plays IN the forward 50, he will get the footy himself, so won't feel the need to tackle & chase,( I mean, you would look pretty bloody silly, tackling & chasing your opponent, while you have the footy) Ditto for Hoges & Cam.

Ok, I relent...Cox and McCarthy don't have to pressure or tackle if their opponents never get the ball.

I'd like to see us trade Hill for the Saints pick 6 and use that pick to get Deven Robertson.

I'd like to see us use our pick 7 to get Elijah Taylor.

I think Melbourne will swap pick 3 with GWS for picks 12 and 14 and end up trading 14 for Ed Langdon.

I would use pick 14 on Liam Henry (if someone selects Henry by then) if they do I think we get a 20 % discount in the first round so the leftover points get added too pick 25 which would move our pick forward to about pick 19, I would then get Luke Jackson if he's still there.

I'm ok with it if we don't go for Kelly , the young WA kids look good.

They're my favorites as well Slammen. If we were to get those kids we would have the core of a good young side going forward although I think I still prefer Luke Jackson to Robertson as the best tall in the draft and one who could fill the spot if we did have any problems retaining Darcy down the track.

Our list looks light on, we will a injection of quality, say 4 kids inside the 25 would help big time

Langdon is worth a top 10 pick.

Jackson is a top 10 pick no doubt. If we want him we will need to use our first pick.

I think I read somewhere that there are only two guns in the draft and it’s pretty even after that. What’s more the two guns are besties. The AFL will give Gold Coast a priority pick so that they can take both of them. Melbourne can then turn their pick 3 (which was pick 2) into two first round picks in the early teens and give one of those to us for Ed.

The problem with Jackson is that I think he's definitely a top 10 pick and the Weagles will pick him at their first opportunity and we may also require a very high pick to ensure we get Liam Henry. We will need to manufacture at least one more top 20 pick, possibly from trades, to ensure we get the WA guns we are chasing.

We only have to make up points for Henry when the bid comes. It’s highly unlikely that a bid for him comes before our first pick so that’s why I’m against us splitting our first pick like Bizkit suggested. Keep our first pick take Jackson then Wait for the bid on Henry. If it doesn’t come before our second pick even better use that then wait for a bid. That would be my strategy.
