I think Brad's plans for next year hinge more on Stephen than Ross. My guts are telling me Stephen has accepted that he is leaving FFC or heaven forbid, hanging up the boots (believe me I'm punching my guts to shut up). Consequently Brad can't find a reason to stay without Stephen.

I'd say we're in the box seat to get a high draft pick for Brad Hill. 5 or 6. So lets go do that. But do not waste it on Kelly. Forget Kelly. Let's think of our future and get another young gun player, preferably from the West.
... or trade him to Carlton for Sam Walsh.

We would be much better off if the entire squad moved to Melbourne, and did some circle work and kick to kick and the old fashioned shots on goal a couple of nights a week. Then fly home for games with the ear buds in and them rapper fellas going full blast to drown out the white noise before games.

I don't see a problem with trading Brad Hill for Tim Kelly is he wants to go to Melbourne. Its probably good timing and then we can just stick to the draft. I remember some people where filthy on us getting Brad Hill with pick 23. They said he wouldn't get any better and might not be in our starting line-up. He won the Doig and is the best wing-man in the game. Not a bad pick-up for Chris Mayne compensation. I say we get Kelly for Hill if we can and draft kids with our other picks. We know we are going to get Liam Henry who is gun small forward. And maybe we can get a star with our first pick. Drafting is not an exact science though. There is luck / skill involved. Tim Kelly is older but he is already really good player - so its pretty low risk. Drafting a kid has some inherent risk.

If we are to lose Hill. I would see his worth as roughly equivalent to Kelly’s. I don’t understand why the conversation isn’t being centred around a virtually straight swap between the two clubs. We may need to chip in a small amount perhaps a third rounder.
I would much prefer this option to trading away our top ten pick.
When we’ve been beaten this year we’ve been smashed around the centre. Early in the year this was a clear advantage to us but as Mundy’s form fell away so did ours. Kelly shapes as a good replacement for Mundy into the future.
Kelly is a year younger and wants to come home. Hill is one of the best outside fast endurance players in the league and apparently wants to go to Victoria with his partner.
We will never be in a a stronger position to get maximum value for him.
Perhaps this isn’t a story of how screwed the club is but a story of a club working within its playing group, understanding what’s important to them and creating a win win.

Perhaps, if Freo wasn't a complete mess, Brad would be having a deeper conversation with the mrs about staying longer and going back to Melbourne in 3-5 years - when he's done.

He's played with one of the best teams in the modern era, and is used to organised, skillful footy. How many blokes have a 3peat of premierships? Playing with Freo must feel like slumming it.
