Does that apply to a Vic Metro player?

I would go with Biz's opinion, he's got plenty of runs on the board - and PLEASE don't mention that kid from that cattle station in the Kimberley anyone, by name or initials.

He will slide a bit and so he should, so many players that are just not the same after doing a knee. I reckon it will depend on who we lose in this draft period and our needs. As for kicking skills there is a few question marks over the WA captain Devon Robertson although his contested stuff can't be questioned. I think the SA kid Dylan Stephens might be the obvious pick if Ed Langdon's leaving. He can find the footy and has great kicking skills, typical left footer and is the best pure wingman in the draft.

If we're looking for a wing replacement look no further than the local Jeremy Sharp.
Played wing /rebounding half back, AA last 2 years, outstanding 2nd or 3rd best on ground at last years g/final pre match -best of the best 17's game.
Quick with a good boot.
Now back playing league with the sharks.

Ed should stay with us, we're better.

Naturally, we could just bundle up all those guys we picked last year and trade them as a job lot for a pick or two in this draft.

Hypothetically If Ed Langdon wants to leave at the end of the year and bearing in mind we got pick two for Weller, what would be a suitable trade or pick for him ?

Clubs vying for his services would be Melbourne and Collingwood .

If Ed were to leave I would be trying to manipulate a trade where we get a chance at Tim Kelly, Jack Martin or Angus Brayshaw in return. As much as I would hate to see us lose either of the Hills the same should apply especially with the form that Bradley is showing at the moment.

Yeah I like the looks of Jeremy Sharp and Trent Rivers. We might have a second round pick around the mark for Jeremy Sharp.

I like Sharp as an outside player but he is very outside. I think he has a lot of ability and potential but if he isn't willing to put his body on the line when it's his turn or go in and get the footy more, then he's going to struggle at AFL level. He's shown glimpses of being able to do that but for mine he has to do more to get into the first round of the draft. I'd still grab him in a heartbeat around that 20 mark.

Stephens is probably a better fit on the wing atm although probably not as damaging as Sharp could be (no one is except maybe Henry). Stephens has a better all round game and won't be as easy to shut out as Sharp.

As for taking Vic Metro players, we took a couple early 2 years ago (Brayshaw and Cerra) so I don't think the recruiters are against the idea. I don't see too much in the Metro side to get excited about that will be available around our picks but we'll see how the draft pans out.

My thinking on interstate players is you provide an opportunity for them to flourish in your side and they'll be loyal to you. If it doesn't work out and they end up heading back home, get the best deal you can and try again like we did with Weller. Compensation these days tends to be pretty favourable towards the clubs losing players so another shot in the draft is always welcome.

As one of 2 WA clubs, we should get the same if not more players wanting to come back to us so the ledger should tilt our way overall. If we're gonna pay way overs for every player coming back home as we have the past 3/4 years then we're failing at the trade table. Similarly, if we're going to reach in the draft for WA players or those unlikely to request a trade elsewhere like Logue and Brayshaw instead of getting the best talent available, we're also failing at the draft table.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

I wouldn't mind a flood of good young draftees a la Phil Smart 2008. Baby Dockers who are very good kicks.

I remember when Gerard Neesham used to say 'you can teach skill but you can't teach speed'. How times have changed.

That can't be right, Shane.

One of the more common statements on here is that you can't teach skills. Apparently, that's why most of our recruits are duds because it can't be the coaching
