TOPIC: Griff Logue

Okay, the guy’s a bit of an enigma, but:

There’s no doubt he’s an athletic monster;
There’s no doubt he’s got some serious holes in his skill set;
There’s no doubt he’s prepared to make the effort.

So we’d agreed on all those things during the second quarter, and decided, all things considered, we were happy to have him back in the team, even if we weren’t convinced he was good value for his high draft pick.

And then he did that thing - those things - that brought the whole crowd to their feet with what was, without doubt, the Freo Play of the Year so far. And I’m not sure he ever actually took possession of the football during his epic gut-busting defensive effort.

So we say; play him every week, challenge him with big tasks, support him while he hones his skills and sorts out his limitations. We are big on the Griff.

Went the you beaut Zorro but I’m not so sure on the big holes. He’s only played a dozen or so games he will be a player.

Or where he can realise it’s got wet, run through soccer the footy, follow it up and lay four tackles, and gain fifty metres outside our defensive end.

Great game from a young developing player. I think he likes a challenge.

He’s going to be a ripper.

I totally agree with Zorro - anyone that can come up with a Logue Thing like that deserves a place in a Freo heart. That brought everyone to their feet and lifted the entire side - pure guts and willpower, it was as good as (if not better than) Ed's full field boundary run down and tackle from last year.

The Logue Thing - I reckon it will replay itself as memorably as That Stephen Hill Running Goal in Geelong Thing within everyone's head for years to come.

Also great was the way his team-mates responded to that passage of play!

He's a development player, and he's doing ok. He's getting a run because Pearce is injured.

Ross is not putting our best side on the field each week, and Logue is proof of this. If I really wanted to win every game I'd have Nyhuis ahead of him.

But there is a very big upside to Logue, and I hope he just keeps getting better.

I can see Logue turning into a halfback in the Moulday of Solomon/Mcfee crosses with an ibbotson/McGovern type. Strong mark, big Bodie, capable of rolling off to launch an atttack or crash a pack. A lot of upside to this kid, and I’d like to see him in our best back 6 (or, realistically, back 7, but let’s not get into that here...)

Great play, but I can see him going back to Peel this weekend for going against the game plan.

Shane, any chance you could get your developer to add some javascript to the site so any time someone writes "upside" it's automatically replaced with "potential"?

Sox, I bought a kelpie that was supposed to be purebred, but his pedigree read something like your description of Logue. If Griff has as much mongrel in him as that kelpie had, he will play a few games for Freo. Here's hoping.
