Tragic
A syndesmosis is a fibrous joint between two bones and linked by ligaments and a strong membrane. The distal tibiofibular syndesmosis is a syndesmotic joint.
Spraining that joint is often referred to as a high ankle sprain. explanation with pictures

Pretty sure I had one of those fancy syndesmotic joints once - out the back of a Freo pub. Didn’t do much for me. Yeah

Maybe the injury lines up with something found on the Turin shroud?

I’ve got nothing against the guy (although the fawning carry- on of the West/Peearr cheer squad is revolting), but he’s a victim of the laws of physics and physiology (big weight + big leap = trouble) and it’s going to end in tears.

A bloke reminded me I bet him a few years ago that Nic wouldn’t play more than 50 more games. Another bloke I bet end of last season Nic wouldn’t play 30 more.

It’s like taking candy from a baby.

Good article on Luc Longley and how game style can adversely affect a big guys feet.

He played after the bulls with the suns and they played a higher tempo running game that ruined his feet. The bulls well they played however Jordan told them too but their transition game was slower and deliberate which suited Longley.

So shouldn't our game style suit Pearce, Hogan, Lobb, Dixon, Sandi etc?
But yeah it must be all that running up and down then getting caught out as the ball comes back over our guys heads.

We run transition it's why our forwards end up behind the ball. I
Hogan was running 16km a game. It's a big load on. 193cm 100kg bloke with a prior in foot injuries. I think our game plan is a major part of our injury problem.

The other sides do the same thing - watch Richmond, Adelaide and Collingwood.

The extent to which our players run more than players at other clubs (if they do) might be more down to how often we turn the ball over and have to run back although I don’t know where we rank on errors/turnover/disposal efficiency.

Quasi, I reckon it is also a MAJOR part of our inability to win problem as well.

Doesn't it worry anyone that there's a big bloke with a stuffed right ankle ripping around in a 6l V8 Mustang? Surely Nissy can stump up for a chauffeur.

Our game plan......everyone is doing it.

The whole friggin league is playing a cross between soccer and rugby league and union. It’s not the game your grandfather or father knew and everyone except a Bedouin well digger knows it’s because we have too many players on the interchange bench which promotes and allows gut running transitional play......hence the injuries on such a BIG ground.

About 5 minutes into our game last weekend one of the commentators was talking about how amazing it was that Nat had done a lap of the oval in about the first minute or two of the game. He’d probably hardly touched the ball.

Enough is enough, whoever has the intellect and power fix the game, just do it. Most people I talk to can’t stand watching most games and I’m not just talking about our games.

McLachlan is dreaming if he thinks everything is going ok and Goyder should have more sense to recognise the game is sick. Low scores ...and teams not being able to run out games and too many injuries. Not surprising given many teams fly interstate every week, except those like the soft serve Tigers.....the last 7 games at the MCG .....unbelievable!
