Oh, DBTS, I almost forgot, there will be sorry, could be a statement at the selection table this week.
.
.
.
Something along the lines of "Well, we won the inside 50's and interchanges this week, same again boys?" most probably.

Consider yourself an objective footy watcher without any particular club affiliation and think about our last 3 or 4 seasons. The fix is obvious, don't worry-wart into some nether region of concern over player movement - be objective.

Our list should've won last night by a couple of goals. Our best player was Darcy Tucker, not Nat Fyfe, not David Mundy, Mike Walters, Bradley Hill or Rory Lobb. That typifies what's wrong - and it's a fact. Tucker is a good footballer by the way.

Sit on your hands all you want, as the seasons pass there will be a cost and you'll have to accept it - to the players as well as your membership. This is the responsibility that you have - I hope someone on the Bored or in Cockburn Control accepts this responsibility sometime soon. You don't get time back, when it passes it's gone.

I relate our poor execution to uncertainty - out players don't seem to know what should happen next, like they are making it up as they go. How many times does Langdon, in space, butcher it? Are his skills really that awful? Or is it he really doesn't know what to do next? And it's not only Langdon, I don't want to make hime the escaped goat. I watch on TV, and happy for more insight from those at the game, but seems to me the gameplan is basically have numbers at the ball to win it, then handball amongst yourselves until someone can break free. But then what?

No , thats not what DBTS wants, he wants what I want...accountability!

He wants everyone at the club to say ‘ that was garbage’ , and that was unacceptable.

He wants everyone at the club to say that our gamestyle is not working and that we really, really need to place a higher value and committment to our skill level. Moreover, we need to adapt our gameplan to our current level of skill..

He wants to see players dragged when they execute poor skills. He wants some accountability.

DBTS wants us to set the standards bar higher, at training, and, in matches.

He doesn’t want B.S. and weasle- words, and ‘people’ (coach, captain, head of football, president) telling us we are on the right track and we a learning from this.

(Hope I got that half right DBTS!.....)

i. Sack Steve

Everyone knows the type - the marketing guy. Do you want him running your organisation? How do you respond working with those types of guys?

You can see it in everything the club does. Spin, gloss, hype, PR, deflection.

I want a CEO that is about substance, knowledge, accountability.

That is all. Everything else will follow.

OK, so everyone in the club says they are accountable - they make that statement. Then what? Sack them all? The whole club? I’m starting with the changes I want to see on the park. And the guy in the best position to change that is the coach. He has had long enough, he hasn’t made the progress.

Maybe you are right Rocco. As long as whoever replaces him is as furious with that type of performance as I am.
That guy may then either have Lyon produce acceptable results or replace him with somebody who can.
I follow a guy on Instagram who often says “you can’t see what’s on the label from inside the bottle”.
We need passionate people from outside the bottle

Gero, get a Rick Hart/Eddie McGuire type in the top job and everything else WILL follow, those types of businessmen don't know everything, and they freely admit that, but what they do bring is the ability to identify weaknesses and get rid of them, and to identify strengths and encourage them. Not make them either shut up and say nothing, or resign and go somewhere where they can have success.

You want accountability but the CEO seems to be judged only on membership numbers. Even if they are meaningless 3 or 2 match "memberships". Doing nicely too.
Yesterday arvo at my sons lacrosse club, after a tight one goal win,, the president and vice president spoke to the playing group on the field, about commitment to training ready for next year, under one of the best coaches in the league. There will be a player feedback session shortly.
When will Alcock step out and say something or are President and board, just token positions?

You know what Gero - i’m At the stage where’s would sack them all - board, coach, ceo. Start again. I’d rather a fresh start from the ground up than more of this. I remember the excitement when this club was formed and how much I had at stake every game. The last 5 years have been numbing and alienating.

Sack them all, appoint a caretaker CEO to oversee removal of the board and throw open all positions for re-election, including selection of a chairman with a strong public persona and a football management background. Ideally from the Freo area. Then first order of business instituting a formal selection process for a complete new football and fitness department, from head coach down.

And while i’m In dreamland, I’d be targeting Caracella, Longmuir, Sumich, Kirk, Barlow, Webster in that coaching group. And reinstate Roger Hayden cos he’s awesome.

RM/D12, I’m happy to start at the top - and it would help, I just see starting with the coach as more realistic.

Steve Rosich has to go first. He makes change for the sake of change and more often than not, the outcome of his actions steer the club from bad to worse.

As I was watching the game last night I thought at the end of the first quarter that this was going to be another tough grind. Given the wet conditions I figured fair enough, but then we started getting absolutely belted and I realised we just have a bunch of players who are worn down from that style of play about this time each year. I honestly think that Ross is losing the playing group. They need some type of game plan that has structure rather than the murder ball set up we have now ( I used to be in the army, shooting is a skill, its the sort of skill that when you are fresh is relatively easy. However when you have done a 10km forced march to the range rather than arriving in vehicles, those skills fall off considerably, if you increase the distance and physical stress you tend to blaze away at targets rather that taking aim. You can see my point.)
The other really odd thing that happened last night was, at about the middle of the third quarter I stopped being angry. I found myself hoping we would get a 120 to 150 point smashing in the hope that it must force something to change. I have never hoped bad things of any sort for my club, but we seem to be stuck in a bad dream where the first part of a season starts with promise and then just completely collapses.
We need someone like Twiggy Forester to buy the licence for our club and set up an actual board that is Freo and has our best interests at heart. Russell Crowe did it with the Rabbitohs, got a club that was delisted back into a national comp and took them to a premiership win. I agree with all posters on here that something must change, I don't really care what but it needs to be large scale and soon.
Sacking the coach at this point for us might be the wrong option, I don't know who in our current coaching group could step up. I would probably give the job to Peter Bell if it happened. We are in trouble but I think it is able to be fixed.
