TOPIC: Sack the coach

You play the game and with Freo, you get to start your career at the top.

Most other high end jobs require a relevant qualification, and acquired management experience before you get a seat at the big table.

Bell's appointment was just another way of keeping all their eggs in the same basket. They didn't even bother looking at anyone else.

Dddocker: you are setting the bar pretty low when you say that “Bell is far more qualified to hold the job he has than most of the ministers we have running important government departments”. If that is the standard we are trying to surpass we are totally stuffed.

I don’t remember a time when there has been more distress, disappointment, anxiety, anger and a whole lot of other emotions amongst Fremantle supporters.

Over the last 25 years there have been a lot of dark times but I’ve never been personally as despondent as yesterday. Even during the Damien Drum years there was some acknowledgment we didn’t have a very good list, were still a young expansion club and things would get better eventually.

Connolly and Harvey were never given the luxury of a five year deal and were axed for not doing a whole lot worse than we have for the last 4 years. We only really had one bad year under Harvey (his last season) when we were decimated by injury. They never lost a derby in such a disgraceful fashion and seemed to genuinely care for the future of Fremantle football. I remember Connolly sticking up for us in Tassie during sirengate and Harvey having the courage to blood a number of young players and put his all into developing them into a team capable of winning finals.

I believe Ross has genuine care for our players, works hard and craves success but quite simply what he does just doesn’t work. He’s been a fairly good coach for us particularly in 2013 but there is nothing to indicate he can take this team to the next level. Mundy has one year left, Fyfe, Hill and Walters are all approaching 30 years old. Sandilands and Ballantyne will retire this year. I don’t think he’s getting the best out of players and letting them play to their strengths.

Plenty of coaches including ex-Fremantle coaches have been quite rightly under huge pressure or sacked when they’ve presided over a loss like last night.

There are 7 games left this year. If we suffer one or two more big shellackings then surely he has to go? Even if we win three more games we only end up winning ten for the year which isn’t acceptable.

Sacking that fool is such a no-brainer you've got to seriously question the mental capacity of an organisation that doesn't.

And that's the way I feel....more than question the capacity....I start questioning their honesty and self interest....but first of all what I see is a. Lack of care

I was being lectured by an Eagles fan( trying hard not to upset me), that the Dockers board will surely act on the coaching situation or lose all credibility. Unfortunately, my answer was that until this current coach is moved on I'm not going to bother about the Dockers one way or the other and I think he has destroyed the team with his style of play and obvious shortcomings in coaching skills. I have watched one and only one enjoyable game this season, that being the North Melbourne game. The others, even those we have won have been extremely hard to watch. So I'm not putting myself through the crap football and grinding pressure game they play and until he's gone I really won't be bothering.

Other than an on-field miracle before the end of the year, you would think he would be encouraged to accept any offer he receives from the eastern states to save face. Last night’s game was appalling and the performance at Peel was nearly as bad. Not one of our dockers listed players at Peel kicked a goal! We seriously need to draft skilful players who can kick a goal. Fingers crossd he gets poached and we can pick up an attacking experienced coach.

KK, there is no future apparent to us. We have such a talented list, but they are hamstrung. There does not seem to be anyone in the administration who is able, or has the guts to say "this is not working, Steve & Lyon. We need to do something, anything to fix it". I thought those who said Rosich was an agent of the WAFC, AFL and the eagles corporation, sent to make sure Freo could not build on what Connoily and Schwab (for all their faults) Harvey, Dale Kickett, Pavlich, Haselby Clive (for all his faults), Jeffery (ditto) Lukey and the rest had set in stone. It appears I was wrong, no-one is that incompetent that they could accidently oversee the shambles we have arrived at.

Thinking Rosich may be an agent of the Eagles gives him to much credit, he is just an incompetent narcissist like Lyon.

Look at the on field changes which have occurred at North once they got rid of Scott. North have been a different team under their new coach Shaw (albeit in a temporary capacity) and have actually leapfrogged us on the ladder. This is the same team that we smashed in round one by nearly 100 points and who won only one out of their first six games to start their season.

Even look at the improved performances from Carlton since they have got rid of Bolton, they have won 2 out of 4 games and been super competitive in their 2 very close losses with their temporary coach Teague, losing by 3 points to the rapidly improving Bulldogs and 5 points to Melbourne today..

There is a clear message for the Fremantle management, we don't need a big name to take over the coaching role, we just need someone the players are willing to play for. Now our board just need the guts to make the call.

Conspiracy theories gain traction when people can't see the simper answer of incompetence.

Rosich is arrogant and stubborn. Lyon is his project and so is he. It's failed, and Rosich refuses to accept it. Instead, FFC prefer 'stability' and the idea these sorts of issues are the norm in football.

So they roll out the captain to apologise. Sadly, a lot of ticket holders will buy it.

I’m fairly sure Fyfe would have wanted to make a statement, that’s part of being Captain.

He was interviewed after the game. With his unnecessarily large headphones around his neck. He wasn't rolled out.

Everything he says sounds scripted anyway. It has all the soundbites of a Lyon presser.
