TOPIC: Sack the coach

I've tried to stay out of the bashing of the club and coach, I've said my piece many times over the years and I find no enjoyment in my view of those who are running my club into the ground.

That post there Jooter is one full of fear and no reason whatsoever to retain RL. You're basically scared to lose RL because another club might want him and you don't see another coach who can do the job available. RL has been 'turning the wheel' and driving us nowhere for a long time. His time if there ever was one, is done. He's not up to it and he's proven it repeatedly despite his twisting of words and snake oil salesman persona.

There are many coaches waiting in the wings who have the potential to do great things. All great coaches started at the bottom with a club giving them a chance in a senior role and we have an opportunity to scour the land and find the best person suitable. I have a personal affinity to JLo returning to the club but as long as we find someone with a more attacking and fresh look at the game, I'll be happy.

Let RL go and embrace change, hopefully Carlton poach him and we don't have to worry about the last year of the ridiculous contract we handed him.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

And don't buy into "the players love him" line. The players loved Bolton and Brad Scott. Patrick Cripps was inconsolable when they moved on Bolton. Its not relevant in assessing a coaches performance.

I'm just heading Rosich off at the pass here.

This 'What will happen to us if Ross goes' is sky-falling stuff. I happen to think noting but good will happen.

How are coaches meant to get experience they aren't given experience? That leaves you with a small cartel of blokes that are ripe for employment by chicken little clubs.

He is not indispensable. Where has his experience got Freo so far. Does anyone think anything will change if he stays? 4 years of watching him go about his business says no. He's taking a talented list nowhere fast.

Freo board and Rosich's own inferiority complexes saw Lyon displacing Harvey. It was, 'We've never been able to attract a 'proven' coach, now is time to pounce'.

They've paid for it dearly, in the money paid to secure and retain him, and the way they've allowed themselves to be locked into a deal that they can't get out of, even if they wanted. Dumb and dumber management.

Getting him here was one thing, extending his contract prematurely is the real F - up. Results do matter

The doomsayers who claim there is no better coach than Lyon available out there have their heads in the sand. Sure, we wont get Clarkson, Kirk or someone of that experience, but Sumich, , Longmuir or someone of that level of rating will be a step forward, hell, Roger Hayden might be the man we are looking for. Change for changes sake is a mistake, change for improvement is not. Hopefully Lyon can see the writing on the wall and leaves by the end of the season, but if he doesn't, we can't afford to have him coaching in 2020.

Okay, surely there comes a point where the board and the powers that be have to weigh up the monetary cost of keeping Ross Lyon on till the end of 2020, versus the damage being done to the club and playing list in losing 18 more months with a coach that is not going to get a new contract.

They'll own the loss, review the game and move on. They'll be under no illusions about where they're at and shut out the critics to focus on the task ahead of them.

When are the players going to tell the coach and board that they’ve had enough, and demand change?
