My view for what it's worth (probably not much) is that with 7 matches to go if we win 3 of these and finish with 10 wins Lyon will survive into 2020. Ten wins is better than last year I think (8?). The critical matter will be renewal of Lyons contract beyond 2020. I think that Lyon realizes that if he is not offered a contract extension beyond 2020 at the end of this year then the writing is on the wall and only a push into the top 6 (let's say) is acceptable for any contract renewal (extension).
In brief, Lyon will be coach of the Dockers until the end of this season. As a long suffering supporter I hope the team wins at least 3 more games this season but this has nothing to do with whether I support Lyon as our coach or not.

Lyon will finish his contract no matter how badly they play.

Rosich's ego is as big as the coach's, and he will never admit he was wrong. He's probably even considering offering him another 2 years, if he can string a few wins together.

Cos nothing says sustained success at Freo, like sustained failure.

And, if RoLy goes, and this is what most want, be careful for what you wish for: out of the current experienced coaches out there, there's Brad Scott besides that, Sumich - a Weagle through and through - has been angling for the job for years. Sumich has always wanted a senior coaching role, but on his terms - a WA team.

I think the issues go deeper than Ross - for me the lies at the AGM when they appointed Ross and stated we would never move from Freo said so much. They were straight lies from people who in a way are just visitors being paid well. I agree with a previous comment in this thread that the move was destructive to long term culture and the club lost important identity. List management has been appalling and draft selections so disappointing...including this seasons mid year draft.....interesting that Ian Bobby Hill makes his debut this weekend....another star that would have thrived.

FTO, I agree with you on the damage done to the soul of Freo by outsiders who got hold of the steering wheel and drove us to disaster, but I don't agree that our drafting and talent identification has been that bad. Ian Hill would be walking in the shoes of Cerra, Banfield, Hogan, his cousins, Darcy and the rest of the team if Freo drafted him.

Lyon has proved over and over that talent and skill mean nothing to him, he does not rate either attribute. So no matter who we drafted, we would be in the same boat. We have 2 or 3 of the best 15 players in the comp, who starred in the first half of the season, but thanks to a dumb, dumb, dumb game plan and coaching box, are out on their feet just over half way through the season.
