A situation can't be worse than a 91 point home Derby loss, can it?

Yes, if we’d won the GF last year and lost the home derby by 91 points.

Sorry bpurple, but I think keeping Lyon runs a bigger risk of mass exodus than sacking him.

are all rumours that have been going around. I bet the will be a few more picking up the phone to their agents on Monday morning (if they haven’t already).

I think he knows he is gone. He was pretty defensive about not defending the indefensible.
His problem is that with losses like that he knows he won’t get another gig as head coach so he has to ride this wave to the shore. Fair enough - it’s his livelihood.
What is not fair enough is that those supposedly running the club are happy for him to do so at the expense of some pretty handy playing careers. That’s shameful and it’s why we will lose good players and why we will have to pay overs to get good ones.

As much as we'd like to think winning is the most important thing to players, I can assure you it is not.

I agree grub. The more I hear stories about how he wants his daughter to finish her schooling in was, the more I start to wonder about the motives behind this rare insight into his personal life.

You know more than me then. So what is important?
Enjoying your footy?
Being respected by your peers?
Bring rewarded for your ability and effort?
I’d suggest Freo falls down in those departments.

Rhys Shaw stays on at North as a result of a player revolt, Longmire stays in Sydney, Brett Kirk to Freo in a fit of pique as he expected the Sydney Gig.
Suma and Belly coaching by Wednesday.

The suggestion that ' we can't sack him because there is no one in the coaching group that could step up' , is exactly underpinning tbe problem.

RoLy has surrounded himself with a lack of talent, getting rid of anyone who might have been a viable option. There's no one to replace him, because he has created that situation.

Brett Kirk is a name that keeps coming back from players as a respected man / coach. Maybe he is not the 'hard arse' we need, but I'd be sounding him out.

Ha ha I have lived with rumours of Freo players leaving for money, opportunity and whatever for the last 25 years. Pav, Mundy was it Fyfe in 2017, pffft most of those rumours are BS of the highest order.
Losing games is one thing but repeatedly getting smashed is something else. If (I don't think we will) we were to lose another couple in a row like last night I think Ross is gone anyway.
Lets take a look at Gold Coast and see how their list has gone after being the whipping boys for the AFL for the last few years (coupled with internal turmoil). Change for change sake is just as bad as staying with the same old same old. It needs to be structured with a definite purpose and direction for players and fans alike to see.
Until Freo is separate from the WAFC we are destined to be Number 2 in this town. They have their favourite sons and that is that.

Bpurple has hit it on the head. There is no will for change. The WAFC don't give a rat's about us. FFS they are lead by an ex chairman of the other mob. They appoint a bunch of sicophants to the Freo board who aren't invested in our success. If you change the coach it isn't going to change the culture. We need change at the WAFC level who are prepared to appoint a FFC board who will do anything required to implement the structures required for us to win a flag. It's all been pointed out before, the only way to effect change is put pressure on the WA Government as they are the only ones the WAFC will listen to.
