As far as the rules go, which don't mention being dumb, it wasn't intentional and the impact was lower that what constitutes a reportable offence.

The way I saw it, Walters was holding his ground and the Melbourne bloke was the one who initiated the contact. The Melbourne bloke was the one throwing all the arms around... Walters was holding his ground... intentionally holding his ground.

I cannot believe that MrO can "make a phone call" to decide on a crucial verdict like this.

Surely if there was not enough video footage to confirm without a doubt, then there should be no case. And both players should be fined $1000 each.

Agree with Expat. From the vision I’ve seen (AFL site) it looks like it was the Dees guy thrusting his shoulders and head toward Walters who moves his head slightly but without any real force.

Walters lead with a stiff neck. Any movement into a supposed "headbutt" motion was pure unintentional action from the natural "whiplash response" after the Melbourne bloke threw all those arms at Walters.

I'd fine and rub out the Melbourne bloke... Walter gets awarded a "get out of tribunal free card".
