Given that a member of the Hawks cheer squad has now been spoken to by security, its becoming a worry.

Would there be any merit in starting a chant of "Mclachan's a banker*, (clap clap clap)" at the next game? After all, it is swearing, but they couldn't throw everyone out...

There were a lot of security blokes in hi-vis orange vests going up and down the aisles at Optus today. It bothered me, my seat is two in from the aisle and this big bloke was just standing there blocking my view. I asked him to either sit down or move along - he moved along.

I've never seen security go up and down like that before, never at the new stadium. Low and behold, Nat Edwards wrote about it at Docklands on Friday night - she felt unnerved by it.

Yes, this is some kind of intimidation tactic. - apparently across the country this weekend. I'm not happy about it at all - someone tell Gil that Mussolini used to smile and joke as well.

RR I strongly agree that in this case coordinated pushback is better than some meek boycott.

I've actually got no problems with security walking up and down. There have been some awful beatings lately at the football. The problem is, this is on the back of throwing people out for silly reasons.

I take Green’s point that it’s hard to find the 'right balance between providing a safe environment and not wanting people to feel intimidated', and I also reckon the fan concern is overblown, but if ever there was a week for security to be a bit less visible it was this week. It’s pretty tone deaf, if nothing else.

I’m also a bit confused about how the direction to patrol the isles was made by the venue, but that it seem to be a tactic deployed at a few different venues.
