Here it is folks, I've hand selected the finest piece of journalism the West has offered its faithful readers all year. I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say this will win the "Hackdorn" trophy for esteemed prowess in tabloid writing!!

Sorry, what part of the article is causing so much offense to all of you? What's being said or who's saying it?

Because Fyfe is going to land in hot water one of these days if he doesn't make changes.

Granted Hype...but Gaff comparison? Really? Carey's opinion I guess, entitled to think whatever.

Agree Fyfe has to change the way he plays as we can't afford to lose him but it wasn't behind play like that other coward.

Nor did he smash an unsuspecting Lynch's jaw with a cowardly closed fist punch to the face. A pure, straightforward dog act/GBH - daylight- - even more daylight - and way more daylight - until you get to Fyfe playing hard footy on a high priced big fella.

Everybody, including some here, are way too critical of Fyfe - get a grip.

I) Fyfe hit the Tiger in general play, when the Tiger would expect contact.

II) Ablett has twice Gaffed a player (according to WC's standards) but no mention of his actions.

III) Gaff hit a player deliberately, with a clenched fist, to the jaw, 60 ish meters off play, and did break his jaw.

IV) Only put point III) in because I like the roman numeral IV) as well, as well as comma's.

And no mention of the elephant in the room, Martins hit to the head of an opponent, 80 meters off the ball a few weeks ago which saw the AFL cave in on appeal a few weeks ago. That was probably the precedent, why won't the AFL do something about Martin?

There's a point being missed in the defensive flurry here...

Carey's right. And most of you agree with him when it suits you. The AFL's double standards are ridiculous. That's the issue. No amount of whataboutery changes that. I get why your backs are up over the Gaff comparison... but again, you missed the point. He didn't compare the actions, he compared the penalties.

Fyfe needs to pull his elbows in.

I'll throw Mark Duffers latest ramble in today's Worst into the debate:

Duffers

I don't disagree with the tone of his article - I'd guess that a majority of Dockers fans were relieved and surprised when Fyfe was given the all clear to carry on - but he's fails to really grasp that it's actually the media, with it's self-acknowledged symbiotic relationship with AFL House, and how the tail always wags the dog, that the real cause of the MRO/Tribunal mess.

I think he appreciates that Mus...

The AFL might claim it draws lines in the sand on player safety issues but those sands shift with the merest breath of hot wind from the Melbourne media pack.
