TOPIC: Cerra

Has anyone else noticed he has no real leg speed,i think his best and only position is inside mid (he is definately not a HBF but Ross keeps playing him there)
Also can anyone explain why Jesse was so deep in our backline 5 mins into the last quarter, the guy battles to run following his leg injury but Ross makes him play up the ground
Dumb dumb coaching as usual

He was playing as an inside mid and played a bit back. You can't throw a 20 year old kid in it like that. It's not poor coaching.

I simply can’t understand why we are playing Cerra as a lockdown type defender.

He has shutdown roles on small forwards and smalls this year and it makes no sense. He literally won games for us last year.

As for Castagna burning him off yesterday that bloke well he is super quick, and ump set a textbook screen (NBA style) for him.

"You can"t throw a 20 year old kid in it like that" Well that's exacctly what's been done with Brayshaw who is smaller bodied than Cerra so what's with that?
Raynor and Dow from the same draft play in the midfield, not half back

He plays limited time there.

Hey, how long did it take for Pendlebury to be Pendlebury and Hodge to be Hodge? Bizkit just noted SPS' cracker game, which is great cause this is his third season and has finally been ok. He'll be a very good player.

It takes time for them. You can't throw kids in against Adelaide like that and then bloody call Cerra slow the following week . He's knackered.

After a loss like that never start with the kids. Have a good look at the dickhead coaching them. He hasn't changed a thing in ten years.

Yes take your point although I didn't call Cerra slow. And if he's only getting limited midfield time why is Brayshaw given such a big workload?

Cerra is a gem. Smooth, kicks both feet. To undersell him at this stage is unfair. He will move into permanent mid role before long, and Brayshaw alongside him. Both are just young. Prefer to persist with both (they have not been awful), and try some other young boys when our mature guys are flagging.

Half back is a very important position and shows just how highly they rate him.

i think half back is a 'learning' position. I'm sure (well, it's Roly, so more hopeful) that this is temporary. he has class, and will show it again. Brayshaw is also very good, but different. Throw him in the middle, that's his go.

But give them both a break. When I was their age I was squeezing spots and imagining talking to girls...

Adam Cerra is a diamond. The former player he reminds me of most is, Simon Black.
Get him midfield asap.

Lyon did the same thing with Blakely after he had shown what a perfect fit he was for the midfield. Put him to half back and waste his best years. If Cerra is good enough for the midfield he is good enough. He does not have to do all the heavy lifting at this stage, Mundy and Fyfe are in there to do that, however he will get less opposition attention on him while they try to stop Mundy & Fyfe.

Pendlebury & Hodge did not get wasted for 5 years across half back while learning their trades, in his second season,Pendlebury was playing a regular, starring role in the midfield for a Pies side that was on the rise to a GF.

Blakeley's best years are surely yet to come?

He is also following the same path as David Mundy and that worked out pretty well for us. I think Cerra will end up being a bit of a bull. I see him bulking up and being that contested beast. After another pre-season he will be ready to roll. At the moment he is coming along, I am more worried about Brayshaw to be honest.

Hypen, never thought he wont make but leg speed over the first 20 metres is not his strength hence my comments he is better suited as an inside mid
Roly as usual not using these kids to there best advantage
He is a control freak, hence the lack of quality assistant coaches and he will never sit on the bench during the game, not his style
