It was a good effort, and we had our chances. A few dodgy umpiring decisions to us would have been handy. Hopefully the guys have learned a bit from this game, and will be better equipped for the future.

Our big problem was not scoring from our inside 50's. Some of that was bombing it into a stacked 50. And some was nerves/inexperience. If we had a fit one, maybe a Ballantyne in for a Hogan?

Is Hamling injured?

You got me there, South Beach, a bit 2 faced of me to criticize Lyon, after praising Lyon so highly for his game plan last week ayy?

Umpires were crap and probably influenced by the crowd?
Boys made poor errors in critical parts of the ground, but this is the first time in 3 Yrs ive watched a Freo team that look capable of winning finals, today’s result will be soon forgotten but Freo are going to be a genuin threat interstate this year and near unbeatable at home on current form.

It was ugly for sure, but Adelaide set up that way, both teams were strong around the ball and we weren’t good enough to break through. The game was going to be won by the team who were clean and organised when they had a chance to score and we were not. Adelaide were only marginally better.

We could have won that and certainly weren’t disgraced, Adelaide in Adelaide is always a tough ask, had a few poor decisions against us which didn’t help as well. A lot of players seemed to go missing tonight. Can’t blame Ross, I think we are still on the right track. Need to re-group for the tigers game next weekend.

If you come away today thinking we lost because of incapable forwards, backs or umpires then you are truly lost.

That type of play, running a ball along the boundary line will get you nowhere.

The forwards couldn't lead cause unmarked Adelaide half backs had the space. Our extra numbers were busy tripping over and bumping into the ball carrier.

Woeful, unproductive, gutless, unsustainable and utterly unacceptable - that was garbage. Im not talking about the players. What's clear from today is that Lyon is trying to play a 2013 when under pressure.

God help us.

So, Morgan, the game was won by the side who executed their skills, against the side who executed their effort. When will we excute the contract?

Morgan. It's more around how we tried to move the ball and to put simplistically where our bloody players stand than how Adelaide set up.

It was 3 1/2 quarters on uncourageous footy movement. Resulting in a 17 point loss. And it was a brutal, energy sapping, calf cramping bunch of nothing. This is the frustration.

West coast play 3 7/8 quarters of uncourageous footy and come away with a 23 point win.

The energy fallout from a game like that will hurt in about 4 weeks.

Exactly Mushroom. If you need to work like that for five goals, we're not going to amount to anything.

Well...given he has taken absolutely no steps to do anything different, we can expect more of the same for the next 6 'hard' games.

If, that is the best he can come up with to defeat decent teams, (ie double down on a fustercluck, kick it down the line, create another fustercluck.) then he shouldnt be there too much longer after rd15....

if there are any wise heads at our club, please question what is going on here and put an end to it...

And geez, David Hale, surely if you have a club recruiting & team strategy that revolves around 3 tall forwards, SURELY, it is possible to get them to do different things, to create some diversity options down there.

The fact that 3 of them are leading at the same ball or jumping for the same ball or even standing in the same proximity to each other is a blight on you as a forward line coach......let alone the bloke who is above you.

Fyfe handball to Mundy who was trying to shepherd the guy running behind Fyfe was the epitome of how we played today, not looking forward for options but giving off to someone in a worse position than you are.

Debacle is the only word I can use to describe it. To only manage 5 goals with our new look forward line is a disgrace, why bother trading for forwards if you don’t have a game plan to utilise them?

Every AFL team tries to force the opposition around the boundary. Everyone hates the ball coming down the guts. I think we've been reasonably good at bringing the ball back into the middle this season, but today was not a good day for that.

Energy sapping blah blah blah.
It's a 7 day break and there are plenty of players not getting a game.

Away games are very hard to win. Their biggest loss of the season at 17 points was equalled today. The side has been in every game and has lost 3 away games.

But sack the coach anyway. Sack Matera, sack McCarthy, sack Switkowski.

The expectation was for Freo to win 10-12 games this season.

You people all need pitchforks.
