Jezzaagh, you don't have to worry about that. We're so practised at it now it just sorts of goes over the same ground and burns itself out pretty quickly these days.

I am disappointed Morgan. I had hoped that you were a shameless fan of windfarms, and now I discover that you are a bit iffy about them!
But my own bias must be influencing how I read your posts, because I never see you as "mocking" anyone.

Ross mentioned we had 50 inside fifties so it’s not like we weren’t getting the ball in to kick a reasonable score.

What he neglected to say is from 50 entries we only had 10 shots on goal and 5 goals scored. The comment about Adelaide defending well is true because they did repel 80% of the time we got the ball in there. But what I struggle to accept is our method of delivering the ball and groups of forwards all being in the same place at once. Adelaide defended well but by god we made it easy to defend well.

Part of the coaches job is developing a system where we can get or hands on the ball more than the other team. The other part is stopping the the other team from scoring easily. We are pretty good at both but we are frequently appalling at finding a way to kick goals.

I find it concerning that Ross indicates that we did enough to win the game by simply bombing it in 50 times with no real purpose. It’s almost like he is saying he has done his bit as the coach by virtue of the fact we had ‘50 chances’ to score.

I’m liking the effort being put in and Ross deserves credit for that but come round 22 I think he needs to be measured on more than this alone to decide how effective his coaching is.

Best comment in a long thread KK. Our forward line appears to have no real system. I reckon you could count on one hand the number of leads we saw today. So the long bomb which is easy for backmen to defend becomes the only option.
Plus as mentioned we wouldn't have a shot when we were within range.

The thing is there have been games and quarters where we’ve shown the forward line can work.

The ironic thing is I think it is often the opposition game plan that brings us into games. Against GWS we were forced to position differently and ended up counter attacking through the middle a bit more because that is where we forced the turnover and went the other way to one on one contests in the forward line.

Don Pyke knew today a good chance to beat us was to grind it out because they knew Ross would be happy to just keep bashing away from stoppage to stoppage.

I realise it does sound kind of stupid and maybe it is but I reckon this year when the opposition takes the game up to us we are a better side for it. The players seem to take more ownership and there is more creativity leading to goals.

When we revert to what we did today with big numbers within 20m of the ball and it being supported by the opposition it just becomes at best a flip of the coin result. Particularly when we don’t take the few chances we get it becomes very hard to win.

I actually enjoyed the game. Thought it was a good tough scrap for 4 quarters and a handful of plays and umpiring decisions determined the game. Could have gone either way and all players gave their all. Massive pressure from both sides and typically an extra in defence made it a low scoring affair. The forward line needs to work out the structure a bit and delivery to forwards needs to be tightened up but all I want to see is a commitment to the contest by all players as was the case. A few taken opportunities and an away win against Adelaide and you wouldn’t be hearing any of this negative bs.

Mate, watch yourself. If you enjoyed watching that game your family might start thinking about transitioning from clinical to committed.

Yeti. I’ve enjoyed your posts over a number of years. But I feel your vitriol towards Morgan has worn more than a bit thin. He puts his thoughts forward as he sees them. He answers your thinly veiled digs with robust debate.
Never, does he stoop to name-calling and pettiness

There's no shortage of footy forums in the wide open spaces of Internetland where a person can take out their frustrations through name calling and spiteful put-downs. I'd personally prefer Dockerland to remain free of such behaviours. This message board should never become the forum for "calling out" contributers with controversial or asinine points of view. Please, Shane, let Dockerland continue as the home of witty, acerbic commentary on all things relating to the Fremantle Dockers, and footy in general.
