Well if he punched Whitfield in the head AND the grading of medium impact was consistent with the explanations provided by Christian a few weeks ago, then fair enough.
But, and here's the rub, Christian was very explicit in his explanation for gradings on 26 March 2019 and according to Christian's own words, Duman should have been graded low impact.
Speaking after handing down the penalties, Christian said a favourable medical report from Fremantle and the fact Wilson stayed on the field helped Cunnington avoid a ban.
"He would certainly need to go off the ground (for it to be graded medium impact) … and for a considerable time," Christian told AFL.com.au's The Verdict.
"In terms of our four grades – low, medium, high and severe – medium would be off the ground for a significant amount of time, perhaps even a concussion test.
Michael Christian, MRO 26 March 2019
I would certainly like to know when the definitions for gradings were changed so dramatically with no announcement by the AFL.
Then again, its yet another example of absurd inconsistency by a bloke who has shown time and again that he's out of his depth.
Since Whitfield was not off the ground for any time, let alone considerable and no concussion test, according to the the MRO's own ruling of 3 weeks ago, it should have been graded low impact.
Michael Christian, please explain....
