Obviously his best game so far and it's great to have guys in our forward line covering so much ground and being able to take strong marks.
It's interesting to see how impotent Melbourne's forward line is without him. Doesn't matter how good your midfield is, and Melbourne's is good, you still need a variety of players to finish off all their hard work.

Thought it worked a lot better with only 2 big blokes down there CA. Gave them room to move I thought. Maybe the TV view gave the wrong impression but thought Cox was floating between back & forward most of the time - or on the bench - and that gave the other 2 a bit more room...

The boy’s got talent. He’s also got real presence and a bit of spirit. Looks like he’s enjoying his footy again, lays out the challenge, relishes the contest and lifts his teammates.

This theory of going in too tall is a crock when your talls are as mobile as Freo’s at the moment. You kick to their advantage, you have a range of Matera, Brayshaw, Walters, Coyler skirting the contest and it all structures up well. You’re now also seeing talls kicking it to the advantage of tall teammates.

Cold,wet winter weather could be a different story. Most of the season is not this, and I reckon Hogan could deal with it anyway.

It’s kind of invigorating.

Lobb looked OK against an overrated slow lumbering dinosaur, he has had and will have more trouble with most of the ruckmen in the AwFL, get Darcy back in and use Lobb as the backup. Hogan, Tabs, and Lobb/Darcy in the forward line with Switkowski & co crumbing will score goals if they are allowed to structure the way they did for our most successful periods of play yesterday.

Walters proved once again he is more valuable as a goalkicking midfielder than a crumbing forward. Opposition sides seem to be able to match up on him when he plays forward, but with the freedom of running through the middle not many can keep him quiet, even DeBoer struggled against him yesterday. And he does kick more goals as a mid, creates more as well.

What I’ve always liked about Hogan is his swagger. I’ve thought our team - and particularly our forward line - has lacked that for a while.
