Jcalb, I don’t think we all agree he’s a bust. He’s 193cm and 95kg and covers the ground well. I’m not sure how good he’ll be after only 13 games, but I think there will be a place for him on a footy field.

Think about Ibbo, who I think is a reasonable blueprint. He was probably more of an athlete than a footballer, but really grew as a player. Him missing the 2013 GF - and his likely matchup in Gunston kicking four goals in a low scoring game - might have been the difference in winning a premiership.

Hopefully we get Logue back soon.

I beg to differ, Morgan. I always considered Ibbo to be a natural, instinctive footballer. Not a star, but worked beautifully with Johnno and McPharlin. Loved his work.

I personally think he will be a very good player after a while If he gets to put some games together .

He may have to be our new Zack Dawson if Ross has anything to do with it .
Don't mark it don't kick it just handball it to someone standing beside you .

I hope not .

JCalb - Im glad Richmond didnt consult you in Alex Rances second year when he was playing seconds in the VFL.
Same size, similar ilk players at the same age too although Griff would be miles in front in development.
Lets hope the end result is the same.

The games he has played, he has showed some flair, an inclination to take the game in front of him on, and to go long when he does get the footy at half back. Traits we need, but want to stifle. That may retard his progress for the next 40ish games.

1 week to go according to the latest injury update. Could "pick something up" meanwhile of course.

Calf is a popular affliction down there. Give it a go Griff...

I seem to recall that Griffin's original problem was a congenital foot problem and that the operation he had would allow him to run more freely and without pain, Now he has a calf problem which could be due to having to change the way he now runs, It should be possible to restructure his running style to reduce chances of further injury.

Given the way restructures of the last 4 years have gone at Freo, if I was Griff, I would take my chances with the calf.

As an aside, things are looking up a bit on the injury front. We still have Bennell, Sandi, Kersten and Hill carrying long-term injuries, but everyone else looks ready or very close to playing.

I see Bennell had another scan for 'calf awareness'. Given everything he's been through, would it even be possible to be unaware of your calf at any moment on the field?

It wouldn't be possible to be unaware of his calf at any moment in his brain after what he has been going through ?

Once you have forgotten about the injury , then it has healed !

We should just play Bennell in the forward 50 and let the bloke run round kicking goals and stop making him run up and back from forward 50m to back 50m. Just give him the Garry Ablett licence and say way you go young fella, go have some fun and create havoc. Surely he must have a base line of fitness to hug the forward 50 and make people nervous?

Don't forget jockstrap, in the best Fremantle/Weber/rehab tradition, Logue did a hammy in between his foot operation and his calf injury.

I may have mentioned before Weber has a rugby background. That explains why he is shite at prepping/healing our guys. Rugby players are basically armoured vehicles of diffferent sizes designrd to go forward with some lateral movement. He is tryinng to bulk our guys up way too much. Bennell has complained about the weights he is forced to do his body is not built that way. Get rid of the rugby head and get somone from an AFL background.
