For some teams, scoring a point used to be the prelude to a goal, as their opposition couldn't break through their forward press. So they go back in and have another shot.
For others, scoring a point was a prelude to having a goal scored against them at the other end, because their opponents got the ball and moved it really quickly to the other end.
With the new rules, its more of the latter. The forward press won't work now. Having a point scored against you is a minor penalty for getting a free kick, with the bonus that you can run extra before kicking it.
So we really need to try and kick goals and not points. And if we do kick a point, everyone has to work their butts off to stop the rebound goal. It will be interesting to see who exploits the rule change the best.
