Biz, don't make me count them!
The AFL is a pretty brutal league. There aren't many sports where players run 14km over a couple of hours, with huge blokes also tackling them. The result is a mix of overuse injuries, contact injuries and bad-luck injuries (like landing funny).
Personally, I'd like to see the AFL reduced to a 17 game season with a couple of extra breaks. Along with the fixturing parity, the overuse injuries might decline a bit, and there would be five fewer games for players to injure themselves before the finals. I also think from a mental health perspective the players would benefit from more time away from the clubs during the season. I also think it increases the value of each game.
The only downside is less money for everyone, which unfortunately will outweigh all the other considerations.
