Put a fork in him, he's done. I don't care which calf you put it in.

If they haven't learnt anything from Anthony Morabito, they never will. Morabito couldn't even keep up with Claremont.

He's not the first to have career ending injuries and he won't be the last. Rest in Peace Harley (on the sidelines, of course).

The obvious thing is that he doesn't get kept in cotton wool. If he's fit he plays. If he does a calf, so be it. And of course he can go off to Subi. Playing in the WAFL worked for Zac Clarke, but didn't work for Morabito.
Either way, I'm over the emotional attachment to potential. Deliver or go.

For what it's worth HB complained to a mutual friend that his people have been chasing yonga around on foot for millennia and yet despite his calf problems he's forced to spend most of his time doing standing calf raises with heavy weights.

That can't be right Magoos. Jezza is in the know he says with people at the club, so either one of you is very wrong or Jezza thinks this is sensible rehab.

Bennell in slow motion is a more valuable and dangerous player than 90ish percent of the players in the AFL. Why Freo insist he be able to move at warp speed before they give him a game is beyond comprehension.

We've got a doctor explaining the complexity of a calf rehab, and instead of grappling with that people are blaming Freo because of a baseless assumption that Freo are asking him to run around too fast.

If you could just put that in the form of a Sydney Harbour Bridge analogy, I think everyone would understand it better. I’ll get you started.

“Here is the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Imagine the deck represents the gastrocnemius (calf) muscle. If we were to travel along the bridge to the last meter, that represents the torn part of Bennell’s calf. And for that meter alone, the Freo trainers want to make Bennell do medically recommended calf raises. Say no to the training of Harley Bennell.”

The doctor said it was all a complete waste of time, Morgan, and then questioned the wisdom of keeping him on the list.

So your parody of selectively picking out facts and misrepresenting them is quite apt.

I would think the Matagarup Bridge would be a better fit for Bennell's calf.

Well what a surprise. It’s Groundhog Day for quite a few clubs as well. And with the Pies as the standout club this preseason with the least number of injuries, it looks like they’ve got their hands full with Daniel Wells. I wonder how HB would go at Pie land.

Picking out what other clubs do wrong to justify what Fremantle do wrong is not as clever an argument as you think it is, Jezza.

I’m calling bs on the comment that he has to spend most of the day doing standing calf raises with heavy weights. That’s just ridiculous. These guys might not be the best medico’s in the land but they’re not amateurs either.
Shane surely with the time he’s spent on the sidelines he’d still be on a modified training program you’d think. Hopefully it’s just minor but I’m worried we’ll never see him play for Freo again

People also forget how many supremely talented footballers were drafted to the Suns in their formative years and have had their careers ruined by injury whilst at that club.

Freo can’t win with Harley. Push him hard to get him to AFL fitness levels and he has a recurrence and our medicos are clueless. Let him do his own thing and stroll around the forward line and tear a calf as soon as he has to gallop to tackle an opponent and our medicos are clueless.

R.L, surely you would think there would have been a lot of things being done at Freo over the last 5 years to fix some glaring problems. The evidence says that up until late last year, nothing was done. I surmise that HB has been doing the calf raises.

RM I understand but I’m not talking about other issues over 5 years. They’ve done a lot wrong over that time. Sure he’d do calf raises as part of a gym session but with his history he’d still be on a monitored routine.
I didn’t hear about Fyfe doing shoulder presses all day while recovering from shoulder surgery
