Lyon has said on numerous occasions, he values effort over skill. That is the way he has trained the team. Successful coaches seem to be able to get players fit doing skills work. It shows out in their results. Lyon learnt everything he knows from Roos, so that comment does not surprise me. Swans under Roos were lauded for their unattractive effort based game plan as well.

The Roly bashers will convince you that our dud of a coach couldn’t coach East Freo to a flag. In fact, he’s not just a dud, he’s also a hated man at the club. No player wants to play for him and no assistant coach wants to work with him. I think I’ve covered all the bases.

I guess that's one way to try and divert attention away from holding a bloke being 1.2 million a year to account.

Just call them Roly Bashers and pretend his coaching record doesn't actually stink and then ignore 95% of what was 'actually' posted.

As for Morgan's comments on here about Roly and skills, he himself has defended Roly's lack of attention to skills. Roly himself has stated that he doesn't coach skills but now apparently thats all wrong and he's seen the light. I guess that 20 minute skills session last preseason didn't quite cut it.

For a bloke who frequently states we'e a no excuses football club, he's got an awfully long list of excuses for the team's lack of performance

Leigh Mathews was a decent coach. I bet he appreciated great effort as every coach would. Effort is everything. How many games did we look off and players running around with little effort and we’d get smashed. Players bring the effort and we might still lose but put up a fight like the collingwood game.
Most clubs training programs would be pretty similar

FFS, effort is a given. These are professional footballers. If Lyon thinks he needs a system to ensure effort, he's more of a dud than I reckon he already is.
