Seems like only some people on this site are entitled to an opinion? Well in my opinion anyway.

For all your incessant spruiking of the club administration, Jason, you are by far the most relentlessly negative poster on this site. Every bile-filled utterance of yours drags the conversation further downwards. You seem to think your views are unimpeachable yet you persist in berating everybody else for daring to have an opinion.

FWIW, I think Lachie Neale was perfectly within his rights to seek a trade if he wanted. Money was probably a significant factor, maybe he fancied a change of scene, perhaps there were other issues at Fremantle pushing him out.

Whatever the truth, he also deserves some credit for behaving with dignity in public on his way out.

The manner in which Lachie has handled this is with the utmost in integrity which he has demonstrated during his time at Freo. If he did have any problems he will not denigrate the club in any way but there are a few overwhelming issues coming his way at Brisbane. The first is an increased pay to what he was getting with us, the second is that I believe he has been offered the captaincy and third was that he saw the attacking manner in how Fagan is coaching Brisbane as being inviting to him compared to our grind and defense as coached by Ross. He experienced this first hand when they belted us at home in mid season. Three positives but he will not knock our club due to his integrity and the friendships he has at the club.

I will take him at his word. It would appear it was financial and other opportunities not stipulated. He definitely clarified it wasn't to do with Bennell as I have commented on. Far from a very discontented player that would have refused to play at the club as reported.
I am not seeing a great deal of evidence for the regularly repeated claims that the club is in turmoil.

DBTS, I don't believe the club is in turmoil, I just believe Lyon has brainwashed most of the club that his brand of (negative) footy is the only way forward. It appears to me , without inside knowledge, that Neale has decided other ways may be more enjoyable. The worry is that some of his mates here in Freo may listen to him when he spruiks how much fun it is playing attacking footy in Brisbane

What is important to remember is a coach has to work with what he has got at the time.

Since the departure of The Pav our forward line has been devoid of genuine KPP's that our mid's and backs can play too, this meant the ball had to come in either very quickly (and worked for the odd quarter this year) or torturously slow to try and manufacture reasonable shots, this was why at times we had many entries for low results.

Once you have the cattle as in Hogan, Lobb, Taberner and McCarthy, plus smalls at their feet like Walters you can change your tactics.

At St Kilda RL had Nick and Justin plus some smalls around them and he took that team to back to back GF's and but for an errant bounce would a premiership coach. He now has a team that is arguably better than either those teams or Freo's 2013 to 215 sides (not now but in two years).

Changes in the rules, together with a forward structure that can capitalise on those fast breaks will see the team challenge for a top eight spot, this will be aided by an easier draw, Barring injuries to the wrong players Freo should pick up an additional 4 to 6 wins to finish with 12 to 14 for 2019 which see them somewhere between 5 and 8.

Next year will be our best chance to finally knock off the eagles and if we can win 9 or 10 home games and at least 3 to 4 away games we will set up a serious tilt in 2020.

Freo has 30 players who can take us to a GF next season. It is up to the coaches to facilitate this. End of story.

The reigning Doig Medallist walked out on his teammates and the club in the middle of a rebuild to chase more coin, and you lot are falling over yourselves to extol his wonderful character because he didn’t pot the club on the way out?

That’s weird.

I'll be cheering Neale when he runs onto the ground at Optus and every time he gets a stat. For if it wasn't for Neale, we may never have got both Hogan & Lobb.

I love all this talk of neale leaving because Brisbane are an attacking team. Let’s see if they can win 4 or more games next season with the exciting footy they play

They averaged a couple of goals more per game than Freo and had the same points for as Sydney (who made the 8).
They are not that far off ...

He is a quality guy and a very good player, a good get for Brisbane. But I shall speak of him no more.

R.Lyon did you watch the Brisbane match last season? LN completes their team. Their gameplan is coherent, direct and should stand up well in 6-6-6 rules. They have a coach that is good with people, and are a year ahead of us.

With respect to Morgan's many excellent posts, I feel that his aspersions in this case are small-minded. Time to take it like a man (or woman). Of course LN leaves for money, and perhaps for a change of scene and family reasons, and to grow his leadership skills. Emotionally, it's natural to look at an enticing opportunity and start to live and dream it well before the final signature is on the deal. In your head, you've already moved on and this seemed to be the case here. Lachie has more than earned the opportunity, has repaid the club and then some, and departs with good grace and personal integrity.

Big shoes to fill, on many levels!
