The more I read the more I think were 1 out, 1 back. with the Adelaide clubs out in front trying to out do each other to get the SA premium product.

Another poster pointed it out before but think we are in the box seat to stich up another Lachie deal here.

And maybe more picks to be swapped.

Morgan, while I am seriously going against my beliefs by agreeing with Rosich, I don't think Hogan is worth any more, given his injury history. And given that the entire East Coast believes L Neale is only worth a mid-high first round pick. I agree, Steve, Melbourne, you can take it or leave it.

Well I’m worried we’ve stuffed this trade up. I believe his worth at least 1 top 10 pick

I would go full tilt for Hoges. I watched him in the U18s - Josh Simpson to Jack Martin to Hoges (who would slam it through for 6) - time after time, after time. The Vics had no answer for it.

Hoges is the guy we want, make no mistake on that - and quit making out that he's some git with one good foot and some mental problem (or other). He's all Fremantle full stop. I would just say 'whaddya want for him' and pay the price - you never get a Porsche for the price of a Chevy.

Get the deal sewn away Belly and let's get this kegger going.

I’m not sure why we’re not after Jack Martin. Last year he toured our facilities, a sure sign of him coming home. How about we do another pitch like what do you want for Martin because he’s out of contract at the end of 2019.

Polly, the offer we have made is about right.
The Demons will take this offer*, not because it is great, but because the offer will be less next year.

*There may be a late round 4 pick swap added.

On the flipside, when the Demons take this offer, we will be more worried than if they rejected it.

Big call on that, browski.

I think it's a low ball offer and will change depending on the what happens with Neale. In the meantime, it's kind of funny watching the Vics going into collective apoplexy because Freo isn't playing the game in a manner that suits them.

Yeti, you say it is a low ball offer, but...... compared to which other offer?

browski, compared to what he's actually worth.

And there is the rub, his worth is set by the market.
In this case our offer is the best that will be offered in this market.
The only other offer would/could come from West Coast and they do not have a 1st round pick this year. So the best they could offer is a Rd 2 pick this year and round 1 next year. Since the Eagles rd1 pick next year will be assessed to be between 15-18, then our offer is the standout.

I take your point but the Demons don't have to agree because he's worth more to them at the club.

I still think our 'final' offer is not as final as the media make out. Melbourne wants 2 first rounders including pick 5 because that's what it takes to get May.

Ok we don't have pick 5...yet.

I reckon the final deal will be somewhere in the middle after the Neale trade is done

Okay, I understand the worries about the foot injury, but Hogan is the best player on paper that has ever wanted to come to Fremantle, especially when our hated opposition have just won a premiership and really want him too.

This is not the sort of guy you pass up because he may have an injury and I say this in all concerns that he could end up like Bennell. I know it's risk but guys like Judd had big issues with his shoulder before he went to slimeland. It's always going to be a risk you take into the trade period with a player carrying an injury.

We just have to hope we have done due diligence on Hogan's injury. Surely we're not stupid enough to put in a big offer for a guy we have little faith in getting on the park, a la Bennell.

The Neale pick, when it happens, should get hogan. They gave an offer based on what we have. If freo really want him they will get him.

I'm somewhat sick and tired of the trope that Freo tried and can't land big-fish forwards. As far as I'm aware, we tried for:
Travis Cloke - in his later years when his power was diminished. Verdict? Thank goodness Freo didn't get him.
Mitch Clarke - apparently, we had him in the bag, but he changed his mind at the last minute. Subsequently had heaps of more important issues to contend with. Verdict? Thank goodness Freo didn't get him.
Cale Hooker - great backman, but would have been played out of position if sent forward permanently. Not the answer. Verdict? Thank goodness Freo didn't get him.
Jack Reiwoldt - terrific talent, who's blossomed in the past couple of years after an attitude-adjustment. Verdict? Would have loved to have had him in Freo colours, but let's face it, he's a Tigger through and through. Never would have come, so it's a moot point.
Jeremy McGovern - premier intercept marking backman in the AFL, and would have been played out of position if sent forward permanently. NicNat's knee meant money freed up for Weagles to offer him a big payday. Money being equal, he was never going to come to Freo.

Unless I've missed anyone, I don't think there's evidence to say Freo's failed at chasing and getting that monster forward. And, as pointed out above, thank goodness some of those mooted recruitments never eventuated. I hope this puts to rest this notion once and for all.

Were there any I missed?
