I'd like to see Hogan play 2019 at Melbourne and see how many games he actually gets after his foot fiasco.

Basil could be trying to emulate Hackdorn by making an early call on a 50/50 decision. He either stays or goes - it’s not that complicated.

If we have cooled on Hogan over Melbourne’s steep asking price, his injury concerns & our imminent acquisition of Lobb - then I guess it sounds better to get in first and say he’ll stay put.

I’m more interested in the possibility of May nominating Melbourne and just how quickly they pack Hogan’s bags for him if our picks will bring in May.

Plenty of juice to be squeezed from this orange over the next week or so.

It would be good to see posters not jump all over a Basil story like a seagull on a hot chip and use it to have a crack at the club.

Ch 7 are this morning reportedly backtracking over the story faster than a banking exec under cross-examination at the Royal Commission.

What? A major sponsor of the eGulls apologising for getting a Freo story wrong? I’ll believe that when ... I’ll never believe that.

Is it safe to watch channel 7 two weeks after the GF?
Have they report the Indonesia earthquake and tsunami ? Must have been an eagle in Bali which would bring a story being 1000km away from the destruction.
The West must be out of blue and yellow ink reading the paper today.

May be off topic - but staying with the schnoz - he said on the rumour file this morning that Coniglio looks like being a late trade to a "West Australian" team.

Future picks again look like they're going to be required to get our target players through the door. How many do we have and are we ever going to get ahead on this merry go round where we have no current picks left each year?

Judging by the way clubs this morning have been throwing future picks around like confetti - I’d have to argue never.

It’s the gift that keeps on giving. At no point does a club ever have to have a “pay the piper” moment as they can conceivably trade future picks forever.

Don’t have a first round pick? Just trade next year’s one for one now. Simples.

That plus compensation for departing Free Agents means draft picks will literally keep flying around - going forward. The AFL created this beast and I can’t see a way then can realistically stop it without having one off-season where several clubs will have virtually no draft picks (those who have traded them out for players) and others with a stack of them (those who traded players for future picks).

Welcome to the new world. people.

Mac, I had just about recovered from watching the GF, and had my valium down to 2 a day, when I heard that the eagles were coming to NZ. I just about lost what is left of my mind before the bit about them being the headline act at a concert in Auckland registered. Oh, the relief.

Trade radio on AFL site calling out Basil's scoop last night regarding Hogan saying it's news to them and calling for people in the West to call and let them know what was going on over here. They seemed amazed at this report on Ch 7.

I think Basil's "scoop" is much like the one next to my cat's litterbox...and full of the same stuff
