Funny how Gaff's decision probably set up 'sliding doors' moments in the trade. Gaff was gonski to Norff - Norff and the Weagles knew this - but at the last minute, he changed his mind, like the turncoat he is - basically guaranteed Norff, then backflipped because he wanted to win a premiership with the Weagles. The Weagles and Norff made plans (Kelly to Weagles, Polec guaranteed by Norff that Gaff would be joining him, for example). By staying, it means less money to spend on someone like Lobb (and if Jesse Hogan comes back west, he ain't playing for the Weagles; he hates them). So, Lobb figures if he's coming back west he may as well get paid for it which is why he's in the frame for Freo. In the meantime, there's speculation that there's offers waiting for T. Langdon and M. Duncan if Lachie Neale goes. Lachie leaving unlocks two or three players coming in at reasonable money, where Brissie will need to pay Nat Fyfe type money for Lachie Neale.
Belly's saying all the right things about Lachie staying right now, but surely it's to Freo's benefit if Lachie goes. A midfield of Duncan, Fyfe, Blakely, and Mundy with Son Son and Brad Hill travelling through, kicking the ball to Lobb and Hogan sounds pretty good to me.
