Strndica has no tank for a AFL game. You cant just get gifted a game from potential..
If he had a tank he would have been a top 20 draft pick..
He would have been gassed by the 5 min mark.
He struggled late in games at WAFL level..He needs time.
I hop he gets it

Didn’t I read somewhere that they avoided playing Strnadica because they were concerned his body wasn’t developed enough to cope with the extra physical buffeting? Something about being not ready to do the pack work and rucking I thought.

Tim English hardly had a break out year...young big blokes take time....rah rah ....you’ve heard it all before.

It’s all that rowing blokes fault and don’t get me started on skills.

Don't agree at all that Jones and Meek performed better. You only have to compare their status to see that. Meek spent about half a season in the ressies. Jones couldn't make the league team in Peel' finals side. Strnadica played nearly the whole season in the league side.

I think that’s a fair call DS. I’ve seen him at training and you’ll understand that his development is still ongoing. People need to realise that we blooded 8 debutants, Cerra played 21 games, the most of that bunch, but he’s a special talent. AB, if his jaw was intact, would have followed suit. Young Standi, still needs at least another 12 months in the WAFL. Besides Darcy is the one we need to fast track.

Funny how Gaff's decision probably set up 'sliding doors' moments in the trade. Gaff was gonski to Norff - Norff and the Weagles knew this - but at the last minute, he changed his mind, like the turncoat he is - basically guaranteed Norff, then backflipped because he wanted to win a premiership with the Weagles. The Weagles and Norff made plans (Kelly to Weagles, Polec guaranteed by Norff that Gaff would be joining him, for example). By staying, it means less money to spend on someone like Lobb (and if Jesse Hogan comes back west, he ain't playing for the Weagles; he hates them). So, Lobb figures if he's coming back west he may as well get paid for it which is why he's in the frame for Freo. In the meantime, there's speculation that there's offers waiting for T. Langdon and M. Duncan if Lachie Neale goes. Lachie leaving unlocks two or three players coming in at reasonable money, where Brissie will need to pay Nat Fyfe type money for Lachie Neale.

Belly's saying all the right things about Lachie staying right now, but surely it's to Freo's benefit if Lachie goes. A midfield of Duncan, Fyfe, Blakely, and Mundy with Son Son and Brad Hill travelling through, kicking the ball to Lobb and Hogan sounds pretty good to me.

Apologies Corp, Strnadica 16 games league ave 21 hitouts, 13 disposals, 5 marks;2 reserves games for 43 ave hitouts, 18 disposals, 8 marks against Meek 12 games league ave 24 hitouts, 11 disposals 2 marks with 6 reserves games 45 ave hitouts, 14 disposals, 2 marks.
Funny there was a bit of talk pre season that in under 18s Darcy and Meek played with or against each other, not sure, and they were about equal. Darcy has obviously gone ahead due to his exposure to the higher levels but I don't see how, even if we offload Strnadica, we can retain both Meek and Jones whilst retaining Apeness and picking up Lobb.

Agree Gumnut. I thought we had too many ruckman/ forward types last year but that would be crazy. Jones an Meek can't be delisted after one season though can they?

BTW, I'm writing this as speculation only, unlike some Perth-based journos out there who speculate but report as 'fact.' Everything basically opened up for the Weagles when NicNat's knee gave way for a second time. NicNat is on top-shelf money, but his contract ends in 2019. He'll be close to 30 at the end of 2019, but the problem is, he'll be a big man with two ACLs. The Weagles probably decided he's not worth the risk to re-sign on big bucks, which freed up a lot of money to pay the likes of McGovern (who was said to have been offered big bucks to come to Freo), Gaff (who's just rejected mega-bucks from Norff to get paid big bucks by the Weagles). And, now I see in today's press that the Weagles are considering matching Port's offer to Lycett, who was gonski as well. This all gets packaged up in a feel-good Weagles story about how Gaff, Lycett, and McGovern all stay to fight for a back-to-back premiership, but the story gets told because NicNat's coming off two knees.

Meanwhile....I've just seen Lobb's highlighted stats on the AwFl website..... :

74 games - yes 74! - (average /game) : 10.6 disposals, 0.9 goals (apparently that's adjudicated "elite"), 3.9Marks, 2.1 contested marks (thats also apparently 'elite'), 1.4 inside 50's....

They are almost Natanui type figures!! Hendrix had much better form than that!!

How much are we planning to pay for this???!!!!!! And, a player with these credentials is going to turn us around??

Is it just me with warning bells going off in my head???...or are others similarly nervous???

74 games to achieve this worries me...and GWS are happy to off-load him!

Leigh Matthew's had a saying about "you know what you have at 50 games".......

I suspect that you are right. I said before that the slime need a ruckman now than they need a Kelly type. Apparently they were looking at getting one from St Kilda but it seems that they would now try to keep Lycett

Whether whattalottahooie gets another contract or not, and I suspect he would, they will still need somebody in 2019. If they can't get it out of the middle, having marking forwards becomes less of a weapon

Lobb or Hogan, not both. Would cost too much in terms of what we give up.
Personally I reckon a first round pick is fair enough for LachieN. Love Lachie but we have Brayshaw and Blakely coming through who are looking like very strong inside mids for years. Lachie is great on the inside and has impeccable footy nous, but struggles to catch anyone breaking wide. This doesn't mean I don't want him only that we will get by without him.
As for our ruck stocks, as much as Darcy is a solid unit and hopefully improving, I would love to have a mobile tall man who can gather the ball and cause trouble in more ways than just brute strength...but Gawn and Grundy are seemingly rare commodities.
Just on the whole what is a player worth discussion, I still cannot get my head around one player being worth any more than one other person. I get that we may be trading a ready made footballer who can dominate, but getting a top 5 pick who is potentially going to be an even better player, plus another player or pick or whatever, seems off the mark.

I think if we get Brisbane's pick 22 that would be a fair trade for Lobb as he is not a B&F winner or setting the world on fire on a consistent basis. I see him as being similar in potential to Apeness except he has seemed to get on the park more often In Lobb's favour however he is more decisive than Jesse and at least declared his wish to come to us. On this front I'm all for having guys come on board who actually want to play in the purple.
