Loyalty has gone out the window, I understand. Clubs are about making money, I understand. But an opportunity only exist if a club drafts you. It’s then up to you to make things work. The mechanics of player and club is a complex one, but you don’t win 2 club B&F, part of the leadership giroup and on substantial $$$, to then walk out to somewhere you don’t call home. I’m old school so that’s where I stand.

Finally, Brisbane will have to pay big time. If Melbourne wants 2 first rounders for Hogan and while he’s a KPP that we need, well he hasn’t won a B&F, not in a leadership group and hasn’t come close to making an AA squad. That’s what Neale has done. So LN should deliver some handsome X’mas presents or he wears purple next year.

Nah, Salty, he means the same way Cammac & Wilson kicked GWS, and Hamling kicked the Bulldogs, and B Hill kicked the Hawks.

RM, most players go home to end their career. LN is one of a few that’s not. Most also wants to win a premiership before their career is out. I’m sure North Melbourne would have offered LN similar coin to Gaff, had they known he was interested in big money.

Jezza do you really think Lachie is leaving to chase dollars ??? He is leaving for the opportunity to play an attacking brand of football and the chance to captain a side. Freo’s cash ‘offer’ would be very similar to the Lions.

So my idea of forward play is old school and behind the times, but your idea of players not being able to go where they want to for whatever reason is old school and a morally right value. The fact that they are "coming home" does not add any weight to the argument, all of those players I mentioned were given contracts and good opportunities at the clubs that they were at and walked away from said clubs. No different to Neale. Good luck to him I reckon, hope he does well at Brissie, and I hope we get a couple of picks + a player for him.

Freo have done pretty well with the trading players in, and holding what we have, don't think we are the only club in the comp that should not trade players who want to leave.

I absolutely respect LN's right to better things for himself and his family. All of us do....if we haven't / can't pay the value of his worth, then it is entirely his right to get that elsewhere.

All of us would do that....its human nature. !

But.

If you - as a club F&B - can't stand up in front of an assembled crowd consisting of your teamates and faithfull members/club supporters, and say 'Look, I love playing here, I love this team, I love the people, and I wanna play footy HERE!! ' ....well, I don't reckon we want him.?

You either wanna play footy here or you don't. If you are gonna be a mercenary, well, the question is always gonna be asked of your loyalty and passion ...and, 'absolute committment.'

Love LN, love what he has become, would love to have him in purple. Couldnt have asked for anything more from a player.

But -sorry to say this - time's up fella. !

In the world of sport, it’s a common occurrence and even in the NRL, player movement is widespread. I guess it’s coming to terms with the whole concept. This trade period is going to be mind blowing. Let’s hope the net result eases the LN walkout.

So Brisbane are now committed. Do you think they’ve done their due diligence? Like offering up only pick 4 as reported. Fagan has brought Clarko’s mentality to the trade table. Bending over opposition clubs.

Not always about the footy and the dollars. He's reasonably young still and is looking to get married from reports. Maybe he's just become a bit bored with the ho-hum routine of life at Cockburn and the long fly-in fly-outs every two weeks. At his age many people have tasted life if different parts of the country or world so may be he just wants to try something new after so long in the west. Sorry to lose him, of course, but can empathise with him if he goes.

At 25, he should still be respectful of the opportunity he was given. And most 25 year olds are not earning a sqillion $$$$, where they can fly to anywhere in the world on the time off they get given every off season. Nah that doesn’t wash. At 25 I was still learning about how high to jump and when to come down. It’ll take a long time before I come to grips with this generation of “ I want”.

Interesting fact to note that aside from the two Grand Finalists & GWS - we are the only team to not delist a player yet.

As we only had 3 players retire in AAJohnno, Spurr & DPearce, I’m not sure we’d be chasing a player from BrisVegas as part of the LN deal. Especially after recruiting Conca via Free Agency.

I think the club’s stated ‘hardline’ trade position for a 2 times B&F winner (plus a 2nd place between wins) is going to require 3 picks - two of which need to be first rounders.

The pain of losing Cowboy would be offset by the recruitment of Hogan & ?? (Lobb or Kelly or one of the other ‘trade targets’) with the compensation we get.

Go hard Docker’s and make Brissie’s eyes water.

I'm not into analysing Neale's character or reasons for wanting to go to Brisbane, what I want is the best deal for the Dockers if he goes. His value has increased greatly in my view as a result of another Doig - back to back to boot. I have indicated my deal above. The Dockers have all the aces in this. We know that Melbourne are going to be just as demanding so we must be demanding of Brisbane.

Brisbane have spent a fair bit of time at the bottom of the ladder and are a few years ahead of us in their rebuild. They've built some quality and look ready to hit it. Lachie will be getting older and losing a bit of speed in a few years. This is a good career move.

Some of you people are a bit flexible in your standards. You're happy for us to get Hogan from Melbourne while criticising Neale for looking at Brisbane.

Since the club has offered a 4 year deal on similar money to Brisbane, you can hardly say that he's going just for the money. If he hasn't clearly decided to stay at this point then he's going for something other than the money. Maybe the prospects at Brisbane are better?

Added to which, he owes the club nothing at this point. He was drafted and he's given great service to club. I'd love to see him stay but he also has to look after his own career. If he goes, at least be gracious enough to thank him for his efforts
