Lobb, is the Slime’s priority. In fact both Hickey and Roughead have had medicals. Lycett is out the door. Of the 3, Lobb, is a better ruckman/fwd. Hogan could go there as well, but given Darling and Kennedy are their twin towers, highly unlikely they’d be pursing him. Tim Kelly looms large on their radar, so to get Geelong on side, they need to cough up draft picks/players. Sure, you’d want to go to a premiership team, but pretty sure to date, they’ve traded and drafted without the need to bring in star power. Freo on the other hand seemed to be linked with every star power on the universe.

That's an area Jezza, where we seem to be blinded by chasing the big name players who may be out of reach whilst other lesser lights are ignored. There was an article pre GF which detailed about 10 members of Collingwood's GF side who had come from other clubs. eg Mayne, Greenwood, Hoskin-Elliott. Not all big names and there are players ex WA on club lists who are quite gettable yet are quite capable footballers. We are chasing Conca yet there is a guy at North Melbourne, Declan Mountford only 21yo, played 17 games in 2017 but none in 2018. He is quite fast and elite endurance and with the arrival of Polec, Aaron Hall and Gaff he will probably be pushed to get game time next year. It's thinking outside the box but this is the type of guy we should probably be looking at bringing home and he'll cost less than Conca.

Sorry, has Robert Walls been making predictions again?

What the East coast scribes continue to forget is the inevitable 6/6/6 that will be skewed games against bottom six sides our way, so worst case scenario is winning another 8 games and a finish at either 13 or 14.

However with another year into this years draft crop plus Hogan, Tabs and Cox operating up forward, McCarthy spending more time between half forward and the wing, Brad and Steve Hill, Blakley and Logue playing full years without injury issues, winning between 8 and 11 games could be a possibility.

Injuries are always the big factor as GWS discovered, probably the best side with all their stars on the field but without them just another also ran!

Im just trying to be reasoned in my assessment as until I know what the trades throw up I wont place us in the top 4 just yet.

But if we gained Hogan/Rankin or something similar plus throw in Conca and some quality WAFL mature ager I will say 8-11 rather than 11-14.

Fair enough I will call it then on the back on an injury free 2019; Hogan stars for the Dockers dragging them kicking and screaming into the 8 with 13 1/2 wins seeing them finish 6th and grabbing a home final that they win over the bombers, sending them into a semi-final against Melbourne who once again fall over with May dropping a mark that Hogan swoops on to seal a 5 point win.

We then have to take on the Pies at the MCG gallantly going down but take solace in the Tigers winning the other final knocking the eagles out of a consecutive GF appearance, finally watching the Tigers smash the pies in the GF.

We then triumph in 2020 beating the Eagles by 25 points in the GF the same number of years we have been in the Comp!

OOps the alarm has just woken me up :-)

I'm truly weary of the whole Neale/Hogan saga. We are all in the dark and fantasizing somewhat.
I've reached the stage of thinking that we should keep all our picks whatever they are in the end and go into the draft. I'd keep in particular the first round picks we get. If we have 4 and 5 I would not be trading that for Hogan. That's too high a price for a somewhat physically fragile player in my view.

Rosich and Lyon will leave together. No decent CEO will tolerate Lyon. I suspect these two will be around for many years to come and I anticipate our club to consistently finish no higher than 12th every season till it happens.

Inject all the talent you like, our problems are cultural ones caused by poor leadership.
