I can see why the Eagles would be keen on Hogan. Most of their best tall forwards have been gifted to them. Think about the best key forwards in their history (in rough chronological order):
Ross Glendinning: concession signing
Peter Sumich: pre draft selection
Scott Cummings: trade
Mitchell White: pre-draft priority pick
Josh Kennedy: trade
I suspose they drafted Fraser Gherig, but he was mostly a backman for West Coast. Darling was a good get, but he works best as a second forward.
Still, I think it's more likely West Coast will be used by Melbourne as a stalking horse.
