Shane, rebuilding plans are dynamic. I don’t think Brisbane, two years ago, had a plan to get Neale while he was under contract. I think they turned a little bit of a corner last season and realised they might be able to fast-track things by trading an early pick for players in their mid-20s, and Neale fitted their profile, they had a ping, and he took the carrot.
Similarly, if we had a plan to attract Lobb a year before he was out of contract I would say that was a bad plan. His availability only came about because GWS found itself squeezed for salary. We probably thought we would have a crack in 2019 when he was out of contract, hence the need to keep Sandi around for another year. I suppose we could have made 265 game club legend Aaron Sandilands – who has given his all for Freo – wait around for months while we decided whether we absolutely needed him, but then you would have complained about the way Freo treated an admirable servant of the club. Or complained even more bitterly when he left for a one-yaer deal to West Coast.
As for not getting Hogan because of Tabs, you know they can play in the same team - in fact I think they'd be great. As far as criticisms go, I think you're really reaching there.
