Morgan, Hurn and McGovern always lift their intercept marking average when they play against us because we make it so easy for them by bombing it in high.

I may not get paid 1.2 million a year but even I can see the obvious. The last derby was a case in point where one of our Ass Coaches made the point of not feeding them easy intercept marks, which we then proceeded to do just that.

Of course, we need better skills to deliver the ball to a point that advantages our players but we don't have those skills because they are not valued under our current coaching philosophy.

The point is, that the current approach isn't working so why do we insist on refusing to change? Yes I know you'll bang on about how unfair it is that we don't play blockbusters on the MCG but this is another self inflicted wound that even mug punters can see. Pity our coaches can't.

Getting Hogan won't change a blessed thing if we keep making life easy for defenders and keep failing to learn from previous failures

I'd be more than happy to have Langdon because I don't think you have to pigeon hole him as a defender.

Detox it's pretty hard to get off your man when you have just run 75 metres out of the back line into our forward line to find them sitting there waiting for you with a 25m head start all nice and fresh.

Yeah its definitely game style as well. Its a combination of things. As for Langdon I would be happy for him to come to the club but 600k a year is quite a lot, I am pretty sure he wouldn't be offered that much.

Hey Detox that Pavlich bloke went alright in the forward line. Why don't we ask him to be an Ass forward coach? He doesn't seem to be very busy at the moment!!

A couple of important points.
1. Having Hogan would naturally straighten up the mids as they actively looked for him.
2. Tabs when he wasn't injured is one of the best contested marks in the AFL and we looked good in the first 5 rounds with him up their, A forward line with Hogan, Tabs, Cox and McCarthy playing as a wingman has a much better feel to it.
3. Langdon has played in the Pies back half because of injury problems whereas his earlier games saw him as a high HF or outside mid, I see him as another Blakely type player and that makes him a good get, being out of contract also makes him easier to pry loose. alternatively he takes Blakely's spot and we push blakely into a permanent midfield role that would involve Fyfe, Mundy, Blakely, Conca, Steve and brad Hill plus new players Cerra, Banfield and Brayshaw plus the new gun we recruit this year.
4. We improve our trade position by giving Lions Cowboy for picks 4 and 22, Then giving Demons pick 5 and next years 2nd round hick for Hogan. We trade pick 22 to Pies for Langdon and get Conca for Nixs.
5. We then use pick 4 for the best available mid in the draft.
6. Switkowski, Logue and Gero all have upside as well.

Why complicate it, Lets be honest despite the detractors on this site, Ross Lyon has been implementing a new game plan with quicker movement and we saw it numerous times just not for 4 quarters, but they will come as the younger players develop.
The biggest issue was with the quicker ball movement the players didn't deliver into the forward line to the forwards benefit at least half the time. But once again another preseason will assist this as will a Hogan forward line that makes Tabs, Cox and McCarthy the 2nd, 3rd and 4th forwards, it will also greatly improve the output from Walters and Ballas.

If Neale goes - Neale to Bris for 4+22 (minimum - like to squeeze 40 in exchange for 77 as well)

pick 4 to Port for 9+10 (if they are desperate for Rankine and Port get 10 from North for Polec)
Pick 5+10 to Melbourne for Hogan
Pick 9 + 77 to GC for 26 +38 + 41 (about 100 draft points in difference in Freo's favour)
Pick 26 for Lobb
Pick 38 + 41 for T Langdon (equivalent in points to pick 21)

IN: Hogan, Lobb, T Langdon, 22
OUT: Neale and pick 5, 77

Draft Ian Hill with pick 22

Morgan, the reason opposition defenders find it easy against Freo is because our forwards are not leading to space, or at the kicker. That is because they are not leading from deep in the forward line. Go back and look at where Cox lead from against the Tigers, and where he led from in the GF. 2 different game plans. 1 worked, 1 nearly but not quite worked.

Will Pies' big fish hunt cost them Langdon?

Collingwood set its recruiting sights high this year, targeting, among others, Gold Coast spearhead Tom Lynch and No.1 key defender Steven May.

The Magpies' aggressive approach was totally understandable, given its spine at both ends of the ground remained a weakness and Lynch and May represented readymade remedies.

However, in bidding for both Suns they were forced to delay contract discussions with some of their own players, including defender Tom Langdon.

This led Langdon to exploring his options at rival clubs. After his outstanding finish to the season, there has been significant interest, while it's understood the 24-year-old is open to moving interstate.

The Magpies have now got an offer in front of Langdon, which his manager, Scott Lucas, says he will consider.

But will it prove a case of too little too late?
