Yeti, McGovern, Barrass and Hurn took 25 marks between them on the weekend against (nominally) the second best team in the competition who possess a very good forward line. At some point you might have to acknowledge that West Coast's defenders are actually pretty good at what they do. McGovern and Hurn didn't become All Australians because Freo players kicked it to them.
As I've said before, given Tabs* and Cox aren't beating their defenders for explosive pace, or great below their knees, kicking it long and high to them is one of the few ways to get them the ball. I'd prefer we kicked it to their advantage, but part of the reason it never comes off for us is that McGovern and Hurn are better than our forwards (and most forwards) at reading the play and getting to the right spot.
On Langdon, he looks like a decent player but does he make our baclkine better? I think a backline based around A Pearce, Hamling, Wilson and Ryan is pretty strong, and we've got a few guys who can go through there if needed. $600,000 seems like a lot to bolster what appears on paper to be the most settled part of our team.
*Tabs actually looked pretty spritely in the GF sprint.
