If the rumour is correct, GWS want salary cap relief more than draft picks. They want the money to retain Dylan Shiel (and others).
Lobb has a year left to run at GWS and he is OK to go to WA, and will go to the team who will pay the most moolah.
The Dockers will likely have more cash to pay than the Eagles.
What they get in return might be next year's Round 2 pick plus Apeness or Strandica or Darcy or Jones (or even Sandi if they offered him a 2 year deal.).
Eagles could get Lobb, but only if they gave him a multi-year deal where the back-end was more heavily loaded than the first 2 years (and furnished them with 2 x round 2 picks). Lobb won't go to the Eagles for less money.
So, step in ("salao") Chris Bond, our very own old man and the sea. And as the remaining light seeps from his soul and the hour approaches midnight, can he summon the courage, strength and inspiration to catch the big fish that has eluded him for 12 years?
Welcome to the Eagles, Rory Lobb.
