I would prefer Rankine over Rozee even if he is a bit of a knob, he is just too electric

An electric knob in your team would be hard to beat.

Biz, I would have thought Rankine had no chance of sliding through to us. The King bros aren’t really grabbing me much for some reason. I’d rather go for Smith or Walsh. That’s why I took a look at Rozee. No one seems to have him in their top five, perfect for us.
I do agree with you on Rankine, he does look a ripper, just don’t think we’ll get the opportunity.

BTW of the top group of prospects in last years draft, Brayshaw and Cerra were probably my least favoured
Shows exactly how much I know

I'd go Rankine. But my big question is when is this list manager coming on? It will probably be at the last minute and we'll end up getting a dudd and losing Neale as well...

Rankine is around the same size (and growing) as Ablett and Wingard, 3cms taller than Michael Walters. They're all likely top picks from their respective drafts if done again. His height isn't really a factor and he is very good aerially for someone his size. He also has plenty of power and strength to break through tackles so I wouldn't think anyone would be worried about his size.

There's 5 picks before us of which Carlton could call out his name but are more likely to grab the pure midfielder in Walsh, the rumour is GC will take the King brothers and I couldn't see both Brisbane and the Saints jumping over Lukosius. They both have developing young talls but Lukosius is too good to pass. The question then becomes whether they go Rankine or Bailey and I'd hope they do the latter.

I was on LDU last season with Stephenson growing on me the more the season went on and the greater his performances on the big stage. The more it looked like LDU wasn't going to us, the more I argued for taking a risk on Stephenson.

Rayner was up there too but it was Cerra who I liked next ahead of Dow and Brayshaw. He'd had a lot of injuries but when he was fit, he always moved and disposed so fluidly, he was too impressive a talent to pass up.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Would Rozee bring Josh Carr with him???

If Neale goes we could get both Rankine and Rozee, Both have extreme pace and are great kicks and strong overhead and can play forward to add genuine spark and quality, along with other postitions. Its possible to get both! If we got Rozee and he played back we could send Luke Ryan forward as Ive got a feeling he would be great forward too.

The AFL site has been unable to decide between a 'Super Seven' or an 'Elite Eight' but I'd say it's irrelevant when they include Blakey (FS selection) and Rozee who imo is a little below the others. Some extra reading in any case on the relevant players around our pick here.

Interesting to see the talk of the Suns wanting midfielders as I really don't see that as being the case. They have drafted a tonne of mids in recent years and are losing their key talls (Lynch and probably May) without anywhere near the same quality to replace them. Meanwhile they have Swallow, Lyons, Hall, Miller, Weller and Hanley supporting a tonne of kids like Martin, Ainsworth, Brodie, Fiorini, Powell, Bowes and many more through the midfield. I just can't picture them not taking the King brothers at this point, especially with the higher chances of retention.

Carlton have to take Walsh and I could only see them going Rankine if not. They need an out and out mid though so Walsh is the guarantee and easy pick.

If we get Brisbane's pick, that means we land either Lukosius or Rankine which would have me excited. If we're incredibly lucky and the Saints went for the Victorian Smith, we could have both and the dual South Aussies could be the start of a dynasty.

Biz, you are the fullest glass half full bloke on the interwebs.

I'd be happy landing Lukosius as from all reports he's the next Pavlich but I just can't see him sliding to us.

I really hope you're right in your assessments though..really, really hope

I've found watching raw talented kids come through and develop over the past 6/7yrs much more fun and rewarding than sitting through RL football.

The under age comps are full of hope and skill, the potential to be great and a legend of the game. Much like the early Freo days with a bunch of scrappers and kids or even 2003 or the 08-10 periods where a bunch of talented kids came in and took the club by storm, it's enjoyable to watch and feel a part of.

We have absolutely no chance of getting Lucosius. I can however see Port trading pick 9 and 10 for one of Gold Coasts picks in the top 3 so they can get their hands on him or Rankine. The SA talent in this draft is of too much quality for both SA teams to pass up on.

Interesting reports yesterday about Gold Coast taking Lukosius & Rozee as they are great mates..
www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-draft-2018-...f69332276a06b29d5518

This would mean either both King Bros would be available at 5/6 or Rankine slides to us.
Either way a great outcome unless of course Carlton part with pick 1 or dont take Walsh as expected, GC manage to backdoor another pick with a dodgy free agency and losing May a year early..

Draft Day cant come soon enough for me

Live draft pick trading is also available for the first time as well don’t forget. This could work in our favour especially if we have 2 early picks.

Sounds like Ben King and Izac Rankine might be available for our picks 4 and 5 if Lachie leaves.. Could JL being another Jack Watts? Seems to be more of a third tall height wise where as the Kings are your No. 1 forward size.. JL is not great contested mark but he works hard up and down and is beautiful kick.. I don’t think he will be another Jack Watts but there are some similarities.. JL has produced at senior level and Jack Watts was only playing u18’s I think
