It does nothing more than put a little pressure on the clubs to do deal that is desired by the player. It also adds a little uncertainty if the 'selling' club decides to wander off and look for a better deal. This is important because a player has to agree to any trade as slavery is illegal :)

Realistically, it has no real value other than to indicate what the player will accept. It came be enforced by any way other than the player refusing any trade.

Can someone please explain to me what we see in Mitch Duncan (if anything)? No doubt the guy can play, but at 27 it just doesn't seem like a good fit for our list. Getting Conca (26) as a free agent I understand because we didn't have to give anything up, and his salary requirements would have been relatively modest. That wouldn’t be the case for Mitch. Maybe it’s just Duncan’s agent trying to get Geelong to stump up for one last big payday for his client.

I agree with yeti about our priorities. I think our focus should be, in order:

i. Extracting maximum value from Brisbane for the Neale trade.
ii. Getting Hogan (if we miss that window we go to the draft with two picks in the top 6 - not a bad result).
iii. Kicking the tyres on Jack Martin – GC17 are said he’s not on the table, but it’s worth seriously asking the question.
iv. Doing a deal for Lobb. I'm not really fussed either way about him. I think he could be useful, but for whatever reason I'd be a little more comfortable if we didn't land him

The nominating player keeps his name in front of his club of choice, and Freo are interested in the case of Lobb. It also tells other clubs who might be interested what his mind set is.

I like the idea of Lobb. If you look at the mob up the road, they were very top heavy with Hurn, McGovern, Barrass, Lycett, Vardy, Kennedy and Darling. Chuck in Yeo, Shepherd and Ryan as excellent marks, and it takes a lot of pressure off. You've got so many "get out of jail free" options.

Yeah Morgan, I'm not that fussed about Lobb. He is a bit injury prone and seems like a small trade up from Apeness / Cox.

That said, if we get him without paying an arm or a leg, he gives us an extra tall who can ruck or move forward. That gives us a little extra depth as well but it might push other players out.

I don't see him as a huge priority
