So if the rumour is true, then this is where we find out if all the rhetoric about rebuilding is true.

As other Dlanders have always stated, if you want quality then you have to be prepared to take a punt and trade quality.
I've said this many times before, i'd much rather trade Fyfe than Neale. I believe Fyfe is overrated but would command a high value trade.

If Neale is to be traded then I'd only accept 2 first round picks or their first pick and a key position player of value. I'd be gutted to lose Neale, I've always thought he'd be a better captain than Fyfe, he speaks very well and from the heart.

The Lions have a good future, can't really blame him if the dollars are good. Lets be honest, contracts are worth nothing these days, which is why we should stay well away from McGovern.

And don't be surprised to see Brayshaw follow Neale if it happens. Assuming it does, where does that leave the re-build?

Final edit - Daniel Rich thrown in?

Shane, we need that "YOU BOOFHEAD" button.

Morgan,I do see Blakely as being very similar to Neale, in that he does his best work in heavy traffic, and is good with his hands, feeding the ball to the seagulls, (oops, outside runners). He is also a bit bigger and can handle the physical treatment, and is better in the air (he would have marked over Mason Cox), and a better kick. Having said that, I would not want to lose Neale, because I see Blakely in the packs, would free Neale up to be the first receiver, dishing the ball off to the Hills, Ryan, Wilson etc. That would lessen the physical hammering he cops.

There is a broader story here. Why does he want out?

I would be shattered to see Neale go, but the opportunity to have both picks 4 & 5; two top ten picks in adjacent draft years, this is an opportunity not to sniff at. Roly can work the whiteboard magnets and other players can step-up. If we also off-load Cerra to StKilda for their pick 3 then we'll have picks 3,4 & 5.

Role on the silly season...

As others have said, the bigger question is why Neale may want out.
For what it’s worth I wouldn’t trade him. He had the second most possessions in the league this year. Blokes like that don’t fall out of trees and pick 4 isn’t worth it.

As I said, it's the silly season. 12 months ago, remember Ballas-->Weagles? Two weeks ago Sandi-->Weagles?

TBH I'd much rather sweat on Freo players' finals match-ups, but all I'm doing now is sticking voodoo needles into Weagles dolls and talking up the Collywobbles. Sigh...

If Lachie really wants out to Brisbane (and he should come out ASAP on this matter) then my deal would be Brisbane's first pick (pick 4?) + Dane Zorko. Nothing else should be considered.

Interesting that the guys on Purple Reign podcast (last Tuesday night - before this story broke) made mention of likelihood Neale would not be at the club next year. Hate to think that Neale would want to leave but then again it was strongly reported Brad Hill wanted out until he publicly discounted it.

Has it actually been confirmed he wants out of Freo?

I'm not sure I'd be jumping to that conclusion based on what we know. I'd reiterate my earlier comments about him being a required player and we shouldn't give him up without a damn good fight.

He's possibly our best on-field leader. No 'brand' crap just a solid leader. He's what you base your kid's development around

Considering the last rumour spread (B HIll) resulted in the club wheeling out Brad for an interview with the clubs media, it would be pretty damning if they don't do the same with Neale now.

For what it's worth, the loss of Neale and everything he brings to the club would be huge and cause ripples throughout the club that draft picks won't fix. Quality characters on and off the field aren't as common as you may think and he brings a lot to the side outside of his tremendous football. A high draft pick is not enough compensation for what he brings to Freo let alone additional picks.

In terms of a trade though, we'd need more than pick 4 to be a winner here and ideally, a second round pick. I'd be asking for Starcevich (who looked very good in the way he played during his debut season) packaged with pick 4. I can't see Brisbane giving him away though unless he'd indicated he wanted to return home to WA.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Whatever the outcome, just make sure our pick 77 this year has the name "Lachie" as a first name and we're guaranteed a future top 5 pick!

Let's say the ball is now in Lachie's hands to deny or confirm. Is Lachie a name to be beware of at Freo? (Lachie Weller).
