It is absolutely correct that D Pearce did not want a send off game. Did Luke McPharlin have a send off game? Ok, he was injured...but the lack of send off game didn't take from his legacy.
Good work D Pearce. Played out the season trying his guts out at Peel. That should be enough to earn the respect of all at Freo.
Farewell games are extremely overrated.

Why the angst about Pearce not getting a farewell game. He probably feels that with all the crap that he’s cop from many, a few on here I’d suggest, he probably feels more valued at Peel especially this weekend where there’s a slim possibility of the Thunder making another finals series. That said, good luck to Danyle and his family. Thanks for the memories.

I’ve been away a few days but glad to see everyone has put last weekend to bed.

D.Pearce story - unlike Yeti the players are human and read our carp, so ease up including me. Bloody social media.

That would be a real shame if he leaves the club feeling that way. I always felt that he gave his all and you could bank on what he would give you each week. This could be seen in his performance when demoted back to Peel.
Sure he turned the ball over at times,, maybe if everybody was tasked with taking the penetrating more difficult kicks then maybe he is no orphan.
Personally I thought we would have performed better this year with his inclusion more often but that is not the path we are on. Perhaps we should bear that in mind when reviewing the teams performance. People screamed for the youth. It can’t be denied we are currently getting the youth and maybe it has finally reached its taken its toll with early GWS, Gold Coast results minus bazillion high draft picks.

What a lot of kumbai nonsense Jezza.
I am not a supporter of d Pearce. He was a butcher of the ball in particular in the last few seasons he played at freo and it was a disgrace he got a 2 year extension in 2016 over other players like debor.
That does make not him a bad person , the way d Pearce has conducted himself this year and last year at peel has been fantastic. I certainly wish him well.
But this is a cut throat professional sport and if you can’t cut it you move on to other things in life. It takes leadership to make tough calls and it is not pleasant or even popular.
If you can’t than simply go play tiddlywinks and let everyone get a participation award.

Danyellerin has always been one of my favourite footballers - from his time at Port. He came to us with little fanfare, just brought the family over and got down to the job. He fronted up every week and didn't shuck the difficult ball he had to deal with when it came to him. He made some blues on the field later in his career but just kept on nonetheless. He had many, many wonderful moments and led the league for i50s a couple of years (if memory serves me correctly). His synergy with Mikey was, at times, beautiful to watch.

He doesn't smoke but he's a top bloke that is always willing to have a friendly chat. He went to the magoos and kept giving full effort, quietly giving everything - a true sign of character.

I never said a bad thing about him, nor will I.

Exceed I reckon you might have missed Jezza’s point (and affirmed Danyle and Ross’ at the same time).

Good on Danyle for making his own decision about a farewell game and good luck to him from here on in whether in footy or elsewhere.

Me either Polly and anybody that makes a conscious decision to come and play for Freo is alright in my books.
One of the best celebrators of a goal I have seen. Pure joy.
Enjoy your retirement Danyle. I wish I’d met you in person to say thanks for your efforts.

Congratulations on a distinguished football career Danyle. Your left foot is a thing of beauty - I don't care what anyone says in regard to kicking inaccuracies. All the best for the next chapter of your life, and thank you for giving your all for my club.

Maybe some of the other selections were made with a Peel win in mind. We've dropped some pretty handy players back to Peel - Pearce can finish his career with a win.

Devo that Pearce won't be running out one final time for Freo, but I can understand not wanting to come back for a "sympathy" game when multiple BoG performances for Peel weren't enough to get a recall.

I already know it's going to be emotional enough watching Johnno walk off for the last time. Regardless of predicted and previous results, if the last game of a champion of the club isnt enough to get every Freo member and supporter to the ground for a final send off, i dont know what is. It's hard even writing this post without feeling it!
