Again Jason,

You cherry pick.

I don't know a single person that says its all Roly's fault, so lets not keep raising that.

Next thing, rather than continue potting some of the messengers, how about you start listing where they are wrong.

Its not histrionics but a fact that we folded on Saturday and not for the first time. We gave up 23 unanswered goals. Thats not something you can just dismiss by saying 'it happens'. Its something that just should not happen

RM, don’t confuse the inability to execute a plan with intent. Or did the ‘plan’ that seemed to be working ok in the first quarter getting suddenly changed during the break.

Now that you answered, sort of (I assume you expect all 50,000 members to pay out RL’s contract based on that $53 amount) the easy question how about answering the other two??

Right, just as I thought, the ABR faction is devoid of answers but like to ask plenty of questions.

Jezza...

You keep stating that it's a "fact" that Roly is one of the best coaches in the league.

I'd suggest that a truthier fact is that he WAS one of the best coaches in the league, but that 20 wins from the last 65 games implies that is no longer the case.

Whatever he likes to say in press conferences, results are not a distraction in competitive sport, they are actually quite important.

Jason,
ii) The tough decision is to change the coach and others responsible for this shambles we now are.

iii) go back through the posts of Yeti, myself and all the other naysayers you have a set against. We have been saying all season, and in some cases for longer than that, that even when we do play with attacking intent for a quarter, or half, or even a full game ,rarely, when pressure goes on the default reaction is to empty the forward line and leave no options for attack. Go back to the first Carlton game, we should have set a consecutive goals record in that game that Geelong would have needed 6 quarters to break. But no, we went defensive after half time. That tactic is what has worn our players down, not youth, not lack of pre seasons, but a unsustainable game plan. Add to that the necessity to spend all week running to get fit enough to run 35 km's a game, and you can see why we are tired and lack skills. The 2 reasons why we are getting beaten.

Does that fit your criteria of answering the question, or am I just dodging again?

Of the 18 current AFL coaches, where would Roly sit. Factor in the time he’s spend at Freo and others at their respective clubs and put them in order. If Roly sits at 18 on your list, and hand on heart, that’s where he belongs then he clearly needs to go. The fact remains he’s still considered to be one of the best in the league and that’s by his peers not ex players like Ling, Hase, Cornes etc who’s opinions are media driven. Let’s take Hinkley at Port and Pike at Adelaide, they’re charged to deliver a premiership yesterday. They’re going no where fast. A little perspective is what is needed here.

I'm pro Lyon, but also for a review of all football operations. They did a review mid-season at Geelong in 2006(?) and things went pretty well after that. But they didn't change the coach.
But if we do a review, and they find that, all things considered, Ross needs to go - then so be it.
Having said that, I don't expect a review to find much wrong, other than that we don't have the players we need to win lots of games.

Yeti, I’ll play your game.

The majority of comment on here and from the paid ass clowns is to sack Roly - period.

They are also all wrong if they/you think changing the coach/board/football dept/boot studder will make any short term difference in terms of on field performances - for the reasons I’ve states many times on this and other posts.

I’m not sure where it is decreed that teams are disallowed, regardless of where they are at in terms of their list and available personnel, from being on the end of a schellacking from another team. Is it somewhere in the AFL handbook, per chance?? If that were the case EVERY team, with the possible exceptions of the Hawks, Sydney & Geelong, in the past decade or so would’ve been pinged for bringing the game into disrepute - on that basis. What an absurd proposition.

What does get very selectively cherry picked is RL record post 2015 as ‘evidence’ that that will be his record moving forward - completely ignoring his record prior to that time.

With all you Nostradamus’ out there who can predict so confidently we will never be successful again while he is coach - could you please let me know what the Powerball numbers will be this week?

Now in the interests of fairness and openness, how about answering a few of my questions that conveniently get overlooked by others when responding to my posts??

Starting with - who do we recruit to replace him halfway through a rebuild who has the AFL experience, track record and ability to finish one off??

The only name that jumps to mind who isn’t already contracted is Paul Roos - and good luck getting Lyon’s original mentor in under those circumstances.

Think Sheedy after we sacked Harvey.

PS. Just so we’re clear, Suma and Schofield have yet to prove their AFL senior coaching credentials.

Over to you...

PS. Just so we’re clear, Suma and Schofield have yet to prove their AFL senior coaching credentials.

So that would have discounted C Scott, Clarkson, Hardwick, Longmire, and a few other successful coaches over the years from getting a gig, not to mention Beveridge, who I admit fluked his way to a flag, the way we almost did in 2013. The only flag that got away from us was 2006.

There are AFL ready coaches out there, there always is, identify a couple and go after them, or poach a ready made coach, either way we are moving forward, not just sitting and rebuilding/restumping/replumbing/relosingourway

Looks like R.L. has to stay as they wont pay him out or get rid of him and still pay him so 2 more years of the same !
We will just keep supporting the players and see what happens .
I would predict that we won't have made the top 4 and Ross will be gone by 2020 and I hope the club can see where it has gone wrong and things will change , but that may be wishful thinking knowing the past .

2012 was one we missed. Roly torched us in that final against Adelaide.

If Lyon had a 3 year extension back in March 2016 there would be no question this would be a farewell game.

Well, if the last 3 years of failure and changing stories don't make people at least question what is happening, then clearly those people will accept anything.

Its good to know where you stand though. Everybody is wrong except those who support Roly. Just don't let the fact get in the way though.

Jezza, find me a coach that will bag another one. they know it's a tough gig and they'll back each other in.

I don't know which peers rate Lyon, but it must surely be based on subjective things, like friendship or being colleagues in previous roles.

For the rest of us, coaches are judged on their results. Lyon has won 20 from 66 the last 3 years. that's 30%. Depending on which presser you refer back to, we're either 2 or 3 years into a 4 year rebuild. Or just starting.

A dud and a conman for mine.

Or maybe, Drubbing for being predictable, one tracked and easy to coach against. Who would not love that in a fellow coach.
