I honestly think we have further to sink into this hole.

We have no picks in the draft so have to keep banged up and old players because that's basically all we have.

Then if Cerra leaves next year we have wasted 2 years into him and some Vic club will screw us over for a 3rd round pick.

Stand by folks but we are a long way off and need more help then the Suns and the Blues. The Blues will survive, get their priority and come good. They have better key position players then us. The Suns will get a heap of picks.

We need Cola and need it fast. Having the Champion Pavlich for 15 has hidden how bad we have been and without him we may have gotten help before this..

Freo should go the AFL with all of our trade bait offers over the years to show that its nigh impossible to attract players here and will be beyond the nigh now for many years to come.

So who are we allowed to listen to Montrachet? Only those who think Freo are on track? You'd be battling to put up a list of names for that. Bloody critics, fancy them having an opinion even though that's what they are paid for.

Montrachet,

You may not like the messages or the messengers but look at things logically. After the last three years, we are still performing abysmally. The criticism is justified, however unwelcome.

I can only hope the club responds in some way that leads to improvement. Some response has to occur. Sticking fat in the face of the evidence isn't a professional response. We need to identify where we can improve then act on it.

We've been over these issues raised here a fair bit. I don't think many minds are going to be changed at this point.

But I'll be damned if I'm comfortable living in a world where you can't make fun of Kane Cornes. He has rubbished the rebuild by pointing to three one-year contract extensions that most on here would support. The Ballas one, which is to my mind the most marginal, Cornes seemed to suggest was wrong because D Pearce was playing well at Peel.

He's talking about a symptom as a cause. He has no clue. Cornes made three points, and two and half of them were wrong. And people are like 'See, Kane Cornes thinks we're stuffed.'

Kane Cornes.

People are entitled to criticise the club, and there is plenty of cause to. But c'mon, you can do better than to cite Kane Cornes' ill-conceived carpary as supporting evidence. You're better than that.

Besides, Cornes has the look of a guy who is too dense to do anything but be a paid talking head rabble-rouser. He's too dim for coaching or a life outside football, so we're probably going to be stuck with him on TV or radio for the better part of a decade. I have no doubt he'll lob equally ill-informed grenades at the coach that replaces Lyon, and at that point you'll be firmly in the camp that Cornes is someone whose opinions should be taken seriously.

It's a bad place to be.

So I either agree with Roly or I agree with Hackdorn.

Cue the announcement of a full review of the clubs football operations - by Peter Bell and Ben Allan, headed up by Chris Bond.

I’d like to hear something from Peter Bell. He is the member elected rep on the board after all?

There was a time in my youth when I started doing a Masters in Organisational Psychology. About 6 months in I realised it was a profession almost entirely devoted to stepping into workplaces to do the dirty work of incompetent management who were either too stupid or gutless to do what obviously needed to be done.

External reviews seem like the same thing to me. Normally I'd be against it, but the Board, Rosich, Bond, Lyon club seems a little too cosy for my tastes. There's something to be said for solidarity, but in this case no-one can sack Lyon without basically admitting they made a mistake giving Lyon a 5 year contract.

The only question is only whether noted football scholar Kane Cornes is available.

The sky really has fallen now Hackdorn is being quoted.

This from an ‘objective’ journo who told me to my face he has hated Freo since their inception.

I love the way he stirs the pot to suggest a player revolt when not once have I heard that. After the past few seasons one would have thought if there was a “Connolly” like breakdown with the playing group we would have heard something by now??

Some on here are confusing Freo-haters for Lyon- haters and quoting accordingly. Be careful who you side with when their rhetoric hasn’t changed towards us in over two decades - just because it suits your purpose right now.

We’ve been in deeper holes before and climbed out against all the naysayers - and we will again.

Just for the record - we’ve lost 2 games at home to interstate teams this year, Weak Coast have lost 3.

Just for the record I'd like to swap positions with WC no matter if they had lost an extra whopping 1 game at home.

Tragic,

one thing the hack did get right was his comment about how disorganised we are on the field. That was painfully obvious.

People on here seem to be potting the messenger and failing to acknowledge that this criticism is fully justified. Just because some of them are complete d*******s doesn't mean they are all completely wrong

Why do you object to us being compared with Sydney and Hawthorn? They identified the most likely to succeed coaches and assistant coaches around, and went and got them. Those coaches worked out a game plan to suit the strengths of their players, and spent a LOT of time working on skills. What's not worth copying in that ?

It’s unfair because their success isn’t only about coaching. Free agency is heavily skewed toward successful Victorian clubs and the Swans have benefited from COLA and their academy.

No doubt Clarkson and Longmire are outstanding coaches - one a once in a generation coach - but there’s more to it than that.

I think the point about comparing the Hawks and Sydney with us relates to player quality.

Here is a list of players Hawthorn pinched off others without having to draft and develop. When you can top up with that sort of quality you can afford to leave the kids to develop for 2-4 years in the seconds as you don’t need to play them earlier.

2012: Lake
2013: McEvoy
2014: Frawley
2016: Mitchell, O’Meara & Henderson
2017: Impey

So all these ‘new’ players the Hawks have exposed in recent times have been on their list for a few years. Worpel, for example, was drafted in 2012 as was David Mira. Sicily, Ceglar & Langford in 2013.

Looks easy when you have that sort of advantage over others - particular those on the other side of the country.

I haven’t even touched in the other big advantages of minimal travel and roughly half their games on the MCG.
