We've looked cooked for a couple of weeks. I was hoping the bye would help freshen up the team, but it sounded like they got flogged on the track, which seems like a strange call to me. Our best players in the last few weeks have been our veterans. That's partly because of their quality, but I think it's also because they have the reps in their legs. I think a few young lads will be looking forward to the end of the season. Cerra, for example, looks spent.
Tabs and Cox looked likely - but just off - for most of the game. They also appeared to be too close to each other. I know the coaches get credit/blamed for everything to do with structure, but surely these two should know that being within 5m of each other plays into the opposition's hands. Perhaps that understanding comes from more time playing together (how many games would they have played in tandem?), but still. It was a bit amateur.
Grey played exactly how I remembered him playing. He was lively, without getting it heaps, and when he had a chance to hit the scoreboard he let himself down with his execution. He's like a less-useful Chris Mayne. Still, he was by no means our worst, and I hope he gets an extended run to see if he can build on his game.
