Boo Adam Goodes, cheer King-hitter Gaff. There you go, you gotta wonder how these knobs fit into society.

Polly, when you ask how they 'fit into society,' the depressing thing is: they are this society. Most Western Australians are West Coast fans. They epitomise a culture in which rules are optional for the privileged few, and the majority look on and imagine that they too are part of that group. They are a disgrace; it is impossible to imagine how anyone could support an entity with their track record.

I am not sure whether Shane was writing in jest about the Premier being expected to speak about the matter later on today, but I will be staggered if he doesn't. Futhermore, if the WA Police decide not to proceed with a criminal investigation, it seems to me that the Police Commissioner is going to need to explain that decision.

The first derby this year we had a guy setting fire to a Fremantle jumper/shirt outside the stadium. Hello.
This Western Australian Club lives on arrogance and being disrespectful.

That 50 seconds of David King with Gaff post game was very nauseating. It was all love and nurturing for the perpetrator...a typical unintelligent minute for a football commentator. I have no idea if Gaff is a decent bloke or of great character, and I certainly won't rely on footy (ex players) commentators to form a judgement. Sure, let him apologise, but geez, lay off the love and sympathy for the bloke. Not the time or place for such gushing from King. Reivolt and co should also have a little think about their primary focus during their "commentary". And Simpson..."not sure it was intentional" comment...again, not the time or place for that shite. Only thinking of length of suspension, finals etc...just so obviously self centred...sick of the lot of them. Sick of all these ex footy players making any comments at all during game day...and most days really.

I know this has been said before - but maybe in relation to other incidents - however, it is time for the club to take on Wet Toast full on over this.

By that I mean the club needs to keep reminding all and sundry what a despicable and dog act one of theirs perpetrated on one of our best and brightest young stars.

I would start by listing Brayshaw on the injury list as ‘king hit - season’.

I would then appeal each and every sanction, fine and/or suspension handed out to ANY of our players in the ensuing melees. Using the argument that Wet Toast contributed to the actions by not red-carding Faff themselves, we should drag up all the mud we can about past acts of their players (e.g. Masten biting Suban and then seeking to blame the victim), their fans (regularly booing injured players, booing Adam Goodes & Jetta (when he was a Swan)). I would go so far to say that Wet Toast actually WANTED Docker’s players to retaliate on Gaff to make Gaff seem more like the victim and deliberately sent him back on to get that result.

How can you expect our players to keep a check of their emotions when you have 50,000+ ‘fans’ (I use the word ‘fan’ here the same way some describe the fawning admiration some have for serial killers and other such violent trash) applauding, if not ecstatically cheering, for a gutless thug that just smashed one of their Docker teammates into next year - literally. Incitement to riot has been proven on far less.

I have tried to be all ‘Zen’ about footy for a while now - even tried extending it to the other fellow WA side - but this has torn it. The level of hatred and disgust I feel towards both WC players, coach and fans I doubt I’ll ever let go.

As it is I expect AAJohnno to get at least half as many weeks for his gentle bump in Gaff as Gaff gets for rearranging Brayshaw’s face. My only criticism of Johnno’s bump was that he didn’t deposit Gaff and several of his teeth across several rows of their ‘fans’.
This is no way for one of the greatest & fairest indigenous players to ever grace the game to go out.

C’mon Dockers - we have nothing to lose and everything to gain by taking this course of action.

I can't imagine Johnno will get anything. Gaff stayed down just to avoid further confrontation. He played out the game without discomfort.
But something needs to be done about Eagles fans. I remember Judd(?) absolutely smashing Peter Bell in a marking contest and then the injured Bell gets booed off by the feral mongrels because they are worried their player might get reported.

Given some of the commentary around Gaffs character, I'm left wondering how much of a 'brain fade' he would have had if the opponent had been Majak Daw or perhaps 211? Easy to have a brain fade is it not when the odds are in your favour?

As for character, perhaps Gaff has been under the ongoing psychiatric care for his short fuse and he maybe missed a session?

The AFL has 2 options. 10 weeks or grab headlines and create news by giving 5 allowing Gaff to play the GF. I fear the latter.

I made the mistake of being drawn in to listening to Hackdork and Ginner to see if there was any remorse. I will never listen to 6PR again, both should be dismissed. Jovial bullies the pair of them, disgusted with Hackdorks comments.

Brayshaw will be be stronger for the experience and I sincerely hope he does not lose his faith in WA. I've been one of many calling for RLs head, yesterday he gained a shed load of respect from me. Walters and Ballas are just bloody ripper blokes.

I don’t care who you are or what sort of character you have, actions have consequences and we are taught that. I think Gaff would understand that too and if he and the club have any kahunas they will take whatever punishment gets thrown their way.
I’m interested in how the Eagles could have handled this differently / better and whether Freo as a club would be doing anything different. I’ve seen Freo crowds in action and I could not hand on heart say that the reaction would be too much different to what we all saw yesterday.

I know emotion is getting the better of me at the moment, but can I ask that the club consider recruiting an AFL-playing MMA champion with a late Rookie Pick or similar this draft period?

Just fast-forwarding to if/when Gaff signs an extension to stay with the Slime and fronts up for the first Derby next year. Said recruits only mission is to find a quite corner of the field somewhere and put Gaff into an induced coma - complete with two broken jaws and as many teeth removed as time will allow.

There'll be no red-card in place for next season and he can be sent to 'introduce' a few of the other younger Weagles to the world of pay back.

Let's see how the Wet Toast fans react to that, shall we??

I disagree Grub.

I was there at the Demo Derby and backed our blokes in 100% to fight back against the aggression and bullying we'd been subjected to by Wet Toast our whole existence.

The big difference was it was one-on-one combat where everyone who coped a hit was trying to deliver the same to their opponent. As is usually the case with bullies, once they are required to put-up they fold like cheap suits at the hint of contact (Read).

If one of our players took such a cheap shot at a kid from on opposing team I would NOT have cheered for them again that day.

Character is not something that sits within a coloured jumper - it is a core element of one's being and I wouldn't sacrifice mine for the sake of a low-life footy player.

I get that.
There are a lot of ooftit supporters out there backtracking at a million miles an hour saying they didn’t see or didn’t realise what initially happened. Probably the same mob that said they didn’t boo Goodes because he was aboriginal.
I just think Freo would have handled this in a similar way. Player apologises, expresses remorse, club gives glowing character reference, team gets around said player and they all try to put it all behind them. You are not going to hang the bloke out to dry. Until he signs up somewhere else of course.

For anyone here who attended the match: did they actually show the incident on replay on the scoreboard? Because all year long the inneptitude of whoever determines what to show on the scoreboard has been incredible.

By the time Gaff scored his goal, i'm fairly confident that most people in the ground knew of the extent of the injury to Brayshaw. I'm damn sure the all the players were aware also.

The reaction of the players, the WCE fans and particularly the coach (and the media) is beyond deplorable. Savages and bullies.
