Simpson’s presser was like watching a wc puppet standing on quicksand. The more he spoke the more he sunk into the disgraceful quagmire as he tried to excuse his player’s dog act. He managed to say the Gaff was sorry that gaff is good guy and the act was out of character and that it didn’t appear intentional.
Well Mr. Simpson you should have kept quiet instead you’ve sunk deep into the murky depths that your club has placed you and no spin or character reference that you can give can change the fact that the punch appeared forceful and intentional. Once gaff delivered the blow to Brayshaw he showed no immediate remorse; it was only afterwards that it dawned on him that his Brownlow chances had disappeared and he probably wouldn’t be playing any finals that when he became remorseful.

If Nyhuis’ tackle was graded severe impact when Gray suffered no serious injury and played the next week - Gaff’s king hit must be graded the same.

That makes it intentional, high & severe contact - at least a Barry Hall length suspension so that the grub has to wait a few weeks next year before he debuts for his new Vic club.

Simpson: "Not my position to comment"

Happy enough to comment on Natanui et al.

Hypocrite.

What else annoys me is AB's game thus far was perhaps heading for a well deserved rising star nomination.
IMHO it was his best by a margin, showing poise and awareness, weaving thru traffic and delivering with great efficiency by hand and foot. All this in front of a hostile crowd in a big game environment, showing maturity beyond his years.

Get well soon son, I look forward to seeing you on the park soon!
GWS Bonar will now be nominated instead I suspect without objection.

While Gaff has now tarnished his career forever, I see yours as blossoming sooner rather than later as it makes you stronger!!
That (and a 5-6 week sin binning) is the shining light out of todays act..

--Until Channel Eagle and the Worst Oz somehow turn it into a "What did AB do to incite such an out of character act?"

I wait with baited breath!!!

I can't see anywhere here, any mention of the actions of the umpires.
Watching the replay...it appears that umpire Ryan (?) is not that far away from the incident.
How did he NOT see it? How is it possible?

Agreed, plus the sound of a jaw breaking from a direct hit is very loud. Don’t tell me that umpire didn’t hear as well as see Brayshaw go down - with Gaff sheepishly fleeing the scene of the crime.

I think they scored another goal while Brayshaw was on the ground.

But you don’t get 36 free kicks from objective umpiring either.

I dont expect this comment to remain... but intentionality is a hard thing to judge. I once bounced (ha) a glass on a court room ceiling – of course it shattered everywhere but it was not my intent. After years of going to the family court I'd reached the end of my tether and in a fit of anger only intended to show my emotion by flinging the water back and down the isle. Instead the water in glass hit the ceiling. I was as stunned as anyone and quickly tried to pick up the pieces.
I guess you would call what Gaff did a round arm punch … I dunno though last night I was talking to an Indonesian amateur boxer I sure he would know better. Anyway its hard to imagine the strike not being intentional though I'm sure he didn't mean to bash him like that – still its worth a season ending suspension at least.

Theres a difference between Regret and Intention.
I believe Gaff regrets King Hitting young Brayshaw.
We also know he fully intended to do it, ie smash him in the head with his fist. He most likely didnt intend to break his facial bone and crush his teeth in but thats what happens when you do that. (its not his jaw, it his upper maxilla/skull which is more serious).

This will be a great test of the AFL and what sort of message they want to send. I believe he should get one more week than Barry Hall.
Still worried about AB right now and its close to midnight. Hope we get a good update tomorrow that hes OK, as far as he can be.

It looks like from this half written article on PERTH Now (www.perthnow.com.au/sport/afl/western-de...unches-ng-b88918515z)

That they were trying to compare recent punches thrown to gauge what sort of penalty Gaff will be looking at- but half way through realised that none of the other victims received serious injuries like Brayshaw. As that won’t help Gaff’s case they just left it hanging.

8 weeks or bust for the AFL on this one.

Just got home from work and there were West Coast peanuts ringing up PR at 2am to suggest that Brayshaw had somehow deserved to be hit because he was impeded Gaff and also should have had a free kick paid against him. Another class display from this band of scum. I think I detected a few boos on the replay while Andy was coming off.
On another note I fear that Johnno may have played his last as Christian will probably ping him for head high contact in that Gaff sandwich from the last quarter. Well done Johnno!!
The penalty may come back as 3 weeks which would enable Gaff to play finals as I think the MRO's recent findings are to make sure that the best players aren't missing too many games. eg Buddy, Tom Mitchell, Charlie Curnow, Tex Walker all getting off lightly whilst no names such as Nyhuis miss big time..
