I agree, Brayshaw is now out for the rest of the season, and so should Gaff be evicted from the game for the rest of the season.

If Barry Hall went for 7 weeks for his hit on a Staker that concussed - but didn’t do serious injury - then that would have to be benchmark.

By breaking Brayshaw’s jaw and ending his season, Gaff should seriously be looking at 8 weeks plus. If the AFL are genuine about stamping out this sort of behaviour - on and off the footy field - then it has to happen.

I don’t care how ‘great a bloke’ he is, he perpetrated one of the lowest acts possible on a footy field (apart from biting - I’m talking to you Masten) that has never been tolerated. Once upon a time Gaff would have been stretchered off after the subsequent melee and rightly so. He can see as many sick kids in hospital, retweet Nic Nat until his fingers bleed but he will never live this down.

One of the most unfortunate things about this mugging is that Brayshaw was playing a great game and was one of the best on the field. This has robbed him of a Rising Star award which he fully deserves.

We were beaten by a better team. There is no shame in that. We tried all day, and a lot of our guys gave their very best. The young guys will learn a lot. I don't think you can lay the blame on attitude or how we set up. Not that some won't try.

Don't think Williamson & co helped our cause, the 3 free kicks against Tabs is just a small part of their impact on the game, but I did pick that before the game.

Morgan, I can't agree with you, hanging is too good for that dog. He should be made to go 10 rounds with Walters or Ballantyne 5 times a week for the next 10 years, see what it's like to pick on someone with a bit of experience.

AFL website: Nyhuis tackle was ‘sickening’, Gaff’s punch was simply a ‘strike’. I’m fine with the ‘strike’ description, the footage is there for all to see and the tribunal will do as they like...but some consistency please...

I initially thought 2 -3 weeks, but as per Morgan, the penalty depends on the damage done - so the broken jaw pushes it to 5+ weeks.
