You may be right Morgan regarding my fond memories of the season although I was below the legal drinking age at the time so can't verify the low standard of beverages served. I did actually enjoy going to games back then and having a good time regardless of the result.

Most of those players you mentioned were good for a highlight a game, even if they didn't do much else and I looked forward to that and seeing what tricks they had up their sleeves. That isn't the case anymore with players not really having the license to back themselves, instead playing the percentages and guarding space.

OK this isn't the darkest times we've ever known. 2001 was a nightmare. But I still maintain that supporters expectations are now (reasonably) higher due to the relative success of seasons 2012-15. That's why the footy crud that's currently being served up far too often just isn't good enough, and this current situation really is as bad as it's been. A change of coach would unlikely make things much worse and, I believe, could have a positive effect on the playing group AND supporters.

Technically it might not be worse, but it feels it because the club is making the same mistakes all over again. They will lose a generation of fans if their not careful.

Biz, in your defense the crowds back then were generally good natured. By 2001 it was wearing thin but going to the footy back then always served up the laughs. You could hear the genuine wit and humour in the crowd.

Then came increased numbers and slowly, more successes and that draws a different type of... attendee. The celebrated Freagle type and the other mouthy twats who don't necessarily know too much but don't let that get in the way of their loud criticism and incessant whining.

So you may have some reasonable memories from back then coloured by the overall experience of hanging out with a bunch of fellow fans who understood it was tough and laughed in the face of it generally. 2001 was hard though. Way too hard. By then we needed some sort of sign that things would actually get better and some sort of life after Barich was possible.

Guess what... here we are, After Barich. Things aren't that bad.

CA, under Lyon's game plan, if we stayed out there at half time we would kick 1 extra point a game. Our forwards would all rush down to the backline, see we get possession of the footy, sprint back to the fifty, Sheridan would pass in to Sutcliffe, he would play on and kick a point from 10meters out and there would be no one to kick the ball in until the start of the 3rd quarter.

As bad as it’s been! Absolutely not your honour. We’ve got a new stadium, a new footbridge, a bunch of young guns and Nathan Wilson. The coach and his game plan will get better and a premiership by 2020. Don’t know where all this doom and gloom is coming from.

2001 our first game was against Carlton and lost by a point.
Most games at three quarter time the games was ours to win but got belted in the last quarter.
The two against the egulls we lost by 3 and 5 goals
And there was a couple of dreadful results.
First win of the two wins for the year was round 18 against the hawks at Colonial ???
And the only home win was round 22 against Adelaide.
I use to discipline my son in those years by saying "If you don't behave yourself your coming to the next game"

Are you actually trying to tell us that players will pack up and move to new clubs if Roly gets the boot? There is a far greater chance of attracting players to club if we ditch the dead weight in Bond and Roly.
