Mick Malthouse should spend less time thinking and writing about bringing to an end the careers of some of the greats of the game and more time thinking and writing about the over-thinkers and meddlers at AFL House who should be shown the door tout suite.

The afl could introduce the stop start option of having a different team for each play ( like the USA !!! ) one for attack and one for defence .

This would create a perfect time for all the adds the TV could handle and also Ross could have a lot more control.

Heck he could walk out on the ground before the next play and talk at someone . show them how to place kick or something ?

All the problems solved for all the teams and Ross would be happy also .

I've been thinking about this for a while and to me its a reflection of all that is wrong with the game as run by the VFL.

To even float this proposal is disrespectful both of the game and the teams that the VFL no longer considers to be a part of the overall season. The comment earlier about the game being viewed through the filter of profits is exactly spot on. It is also utterly ironic that it is being doled out by the one person who should be standing in the way, the so called Integrity Officer. Lack of Integrity Officer would be more honest and more accurate.

Its well past time the Commission did its job and effectively removed these clowns from their overly comfortable positions and reminded people that they are custodians of the game not its owners.

That the AFL are floating this idea makes me feel better.

A few years ago I had the idea that once a team were no longer a mathematical chance for finals, they would raffle of the right to play one quarter of AFL football to 4 lucky people each game. So Joe Bloggs from the Maddington veterans could play a quarter with Freo.

It was a terrible idea, but it makes me feel better that well paid blokes who supposedly know better can also come up with silly stuff.

It's disrespectful to the supporters that stump up and buy a membership before the home/away begins. Even with RoLy as the coach, I rented a seat for a game of football. This move by those fools in Melbourne contravenes the consumer protection laws in this country.

Interesting point, Polly. During the miserable 3rd quarter of that miserable game against Brisbane in round 15, I was loudly ranting to anyone who would listen that, as what we were watching couldn't be called - by even the most generous comparison - football, could a case be made for a group of disgruntled Freo members to mount a class action against the club, to at least get our annual fees back, and maybe force the club to admit they were defrauding us out of our hard-earned?

What does this do to the integrity of the Brownlow medal?, There could be 2 or 3 contenders for the medal in these games, half forwards who run the length and breadth of the ground, getting votes, who suddenly find they get near the footy twice a quarter cause Hocking and Gillon changed the rules for some but not others. The AwFL admin should join Rosich and co and buy tickets (one way) to visit Demetrio in Greece.
